"Social Security system has been adjusted before and adjustments will have to be made again."

— Bernie Sanders (1996)

While running for re-election in 1996, then-Congressman Sanders said at a news conference that the Social Security system had “been adjusted before, and adjustments will have to be made again.” The Sanders campaign has assailed Biden for saying Social Security was in need of “adjustments” in a 2018 speech, with Chief Policy Adviser Warren Gunnels on Wednesday quoting an interest group saying the term was a “euphemism” for cuts.

they setup and sold us IRAs, beginning with what is now known as traditional IRAs in 1981 (Reagan). Then they doubled down about 12 years later with ROTH IRA's - tax free for life. But it always was an insider, Republican, trust fund baby game. At the time they said they were going to wean us from Big Government (hey it's not something I support but that's what they said), they failed to integrate the idea into retirement for common folk. From a tax free standpoint, ROTH IRA is as good as it gets. You can do just about anything in there except run a business or trade physical goods (collectibles and the like) in there. Tax Free. Yet the people who need it most, don't understand it, or don't know about it, or don't know what it can do for them. Shameful mismanagement by Republicans again.
