New CNN national primary poll: Sanders leads by 3

https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/22/politics/cnn-poll-sanders-biden-january-national/index.html?fbclid=IwAR0O9PnqYNHwL_UiRvrbG1_xzPY5B1zz7DBs9HC3ZMQ2gyaOhkUSMBT7QD4

Conducted by SSRS: live poll rated A/B

Overall, 27% of registered voters who are Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents back Sanders, while 24% favor Biden. The margin between the two is within the poll's margin of sampling error, meaning there is no clear leader in this poll. Both, however, are significantly ahead of the rest of the field, including Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren at 14% and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 11%. Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg lands at 5% in the poll, while Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and businessman Andrew Yang each hold 4% support.

Bernie is clearly surging, as this is the second poll in recent times that show him caught up with Biden. GO BERNIE!!!

This brings Joe's lead to +6.1 in the RCP averages and 6.2 in 538.

Regardless of what the others say, this is definitely narrowing those averages, and confirming that Sanders movement in other polls is not exactly an outlier.

RCP average has Joe at +6.1 now, down from about +9 last week, I think?

This CNN poll also shows Biden doing better than Sanders against Trump, and it shows Biden doing much better than Sanders on a number of the questions they asked. And Sanders' narrow lead here is within the MOE. The new Economist/YouGov national poll has Biden's lead outside the MOE. Two of the new state polls, in the crucial states of OH and PA, have Biden leading Sanders by double digits.

8. There were four national polls released today:
Wed Jan 22, 2020, 12:44 PM
Jan 2020

YouGov: Biden 28, Warren 21, Sanders 18, Buttigieg 8, Bloomberg 6
Monmouth: Biden 30, Sanders 23, Warren 14, Bloomberg 9, Buttigieg 6
Morning Consult: Biden 29, Sanders 24, Warren 15, Bloomberg 10, Buttigieg 8
CNN/SSRS: Sanders 27, Biden 24, Warren 14, Buttigieg 11, Bloomberg 5

Averages:

Biden 27.8
Sanders 23.0
Warren 16.0
Buttigieg 8.2
Bloomberg 7.0

All of this becomes particularly important if we ever move to a national primary.

The national averages show 6.1 ahead for Biden. These show 4.8 easily cutting Joe's lead by a third or half. The trend seems to be in Bernies favor. Iowa is looking more and more significant now.
