1. sigh - that Republican VP BS again
Wed Jan 22, 2020, 11:43 AM

He was insulting Republicans, not saying he was open to a Republican VP. He said he would consider a Republican VP if there were any reasonable Republicans out there, but there are NONE that he could see.

He also said that he would likely name a woman and/or a perosn of color as his running mate in the same breath.

I'm not even a Biden supporter and I'm disappointed that so many are resorting to this to attack Biden.

desperation time and ambition time. She's obviously willing to burn bridges with her own Democratic constituents, even if she has enough outside money and press attention to hold the seat once.

But her improbable win immediately turned turned her into a national figure willy-nilly, and she ran with it, at 29. Her messages have continued ever since to all be focused nationally, so it's obvious that she's looking far beyond her precinct and house seat. To what? Bizarre, wing-melting ambition or a real plan? If she doesn't decide to copy Sanders' template for safe job longevity, I can't imagine anything that doesn't eventually exile her among fringe groups, like a younger, more energetic Palin or Jill Stein.

Lol, I'm getting the impression being surrounded by liberal Democrats in congress and realizing she can't rise there without being a player on liberal teams is making her downright unhappy. (Throw them out, keep her!)

So she can't be senator or governor and prefers insulting her constituents to representing them as she was elected to do. (Very interesting that your hubs used to live there.) Can't run for president on a third-party ticket until 2036.

Maybe she sees herself as kingmaker for whoever follows Sanders (who gets to retire him?). Marching herself at the front of the people's revolution she's trying to drum up? Heroic far-left guerrilla leader battling the liberal resistance forces and the fascistic oligarchy that finished their revolution while she was ignoring the internet herself?

One thing she could capitalize on ( ) from this after all else flopped: she could run a radical political PAC or NGO and/or make a decent living off speaker fees, maybe keep her brand alive by running for president now and then.

I find those facts informative.

Joe should be owning his history and saying he feels differently now, instead of trying to deny facts when there’s an actual record of his senate history and his direct quotes, that’s AOC’s point. People can change and voters can choose to look past the historic facts or not. But don’t deny the truth.

Reminds me of the movie "Amadeus" when the King said Mozart's piece had "too many notes" when they guy was musically deaf but didn't know what to say, he was just repeating what the envious musical court administrator had put in his ear.

How much should a person talk, how many ideas should they deliver to the public? What is the limit?

I love Warren, but she has been criticized for her plans that seem to be "too much", but I am sure you don't think they are too much.

AOC is a fantastic representative of the Democratic party, the same Al Franken was and is, this political fanatism creates too many enemies, and as much as I have loved Hillary, she is not contributing to the unity that we must keep in order to remove the criminal from the WH, and his goons.

This discord must stop, it would be very dangerous if Bernie's supporters stay home come November or the other way around. Bernie could win the nomination, so are you all going to stay home in November and not vote? Or if Biden or anyone else wins the nomination, are Bernie supporters going to stay home? Keep the hate against Bernie and that is what you'll get.

And for Hillary, she should have kept her mouth shut, and I am a big supporter of Hillary.

Hillary should be a nicer, prettier woman if she would be quiet and stop criticizing Bernie Sanders? Hmmpf. I tell you what... I am no Hillbot but, oh hell, that woman has opinions and she is going to tell them to the world and no one is going to stop her. You might not think that is lady-like, pretty or nice but guess what? Being those things are not her job. And she owes nothing-absolutely nothing to the Democratic Party-- and those in that party that could not bring themselves to vote for her? They did not deserve her. So as she practically saved the Party from insolvency and got crackers for it-- I think she gets to say any thing she wants any way she wants.

Wed Jan 22, 2020, 01:38 PM
Jan 2020

Same as the republicans apparently.

Yea that’s sarcasm, but that is a message some will take from this.

We really can’t agree that any democratic candidate would be better than republicans on this and any other issue? We ought to be pummeling republicans on social security and healthcare issues not each other.

I don’t worry one bit that Biden is going to cut social security or not work to improve healthcare. I know the republicans will. I don’t worry that sanders would veto a plan enacted by congress that fell way short of his positions but improved either.

The irony to me is all the policy differences between the candidates probably don’t matter. What gets enacted depends on keeping the house and how much we improve in the senate. Even if we do great we only have 2 years before midterms. If we don’t win the midterms most of our agenda will stall.

The only democratic positions I vehemently hold are that democratic policy is better than republican and that the more we can run up our totals the more of our agenda will get enacted. The bigger our majority the more progressive the resulting policies will be. Not necessarily the reverse.

The arguments between the “excite people with far reaching agenda” and the “don’t over promise and don’t scare the squares” teams are devolving into bickering.

The last thing I’ll say is that rather than living abroad for a year for cultural enrichment, americans should spend a year in a major city and a small town. Arguments that work very well in one don’t work at all in the other.

I really hate primary season.

In 2000 Patrick Buchanan and his sister basically did that to the Reform Party started by Ross Perot.

The takeover attempt got really nasty.

The attempt to take over the Democratic Party by any means possible is not going to go away no matter what happens in the primary or the general election.

It always makes perfect sense to take over an existing enterprise-especially one that others have built and now has assets after being just about bankrupt 6 years ago.

If the attempt to take over the party fails, I predict there will be a sort of Democratic Socialist Patriarchal party formed after the election.
