Hillary Clinton on Sen. Bernie Sanders: 'Nobody likes him'

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton levied scathing attacks on Sen. Bernie Sanders in a new Hulu documentary and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Clinton, who competed for the 2016 Democratic nomination against Sanders and won, claimed that Sanders is unlikable and has been relatively unaccomplished during his congressional tenure.

“He was in Congress for years. He had one senator support him. Nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done,” Clinton said in the documentary. “He was a career politician. It’s all just baloney and I feel so bad that people got sucked into it.”

[...]

“I will say, however, that it’s not only him, it’s the culture around him. It’s his leadership team. It’s his prominent supporters. It’s his online 'Bernie Bros' and their relentless attacks on lots of his competitors, particularly the women. And I really hope people are paying attention to that because it should be worrisome that he has permitted this culture — not only permitted, [he] seems to really be very much supporting it.”

So who exactly is this set of everyone that doesn’t like Bernie?

14. He's cratering in the polls. For example, RCP averages in Iowa:
Tue Jan 21, 2020, 05:03 PM
Jan 2020

Jan 7

Sanders 22.0
Buttigieg 21.7
Biden 20.3
Warren 15.3

Jan 21

Sanders 17.3 -4.7
Buttigieg 16.3 -5.4
Biden 21.0 +0.7
Warren 16.7 +1.4

He's lost more than five points to the current front runner in just two weeks, less than two weeks before the caucus.

538 has similar numbers.

In New Hampshire

RCP

Jan 7

Sanders 22.7
Buttigieg 17.7
Biden 18.7
Warren 14.7

Jan 21

Sanders 19.8 -2.9
Buttigieg 14.3 -3.4
Biden 18.5 -0.2
Warren 14.3 -0.4

He's lost 2.7 points to Biden in just two weeks, three weeks before the primary.

Again, 538 has similar numbers.

As for the "small donor" fundraising, that's a misnomer. They're "small donation" fundraising. Many of his "small donations" have come from big donors, but they're encouraged to give small and give often - inflating the # of donations and deflating the average of donations.

He's not really steadily increasing, he was at:

19.5 on November 25
19.5 on December 18
20.3 on January 9
20.4 today

He was also at:

15.4 on December 7
18.6 on December 17
18.6 on January 2
19.0 on January 11.
