9. Kennedy did propose a tax cut in 1963, but for everybody. Unfortunately he wasn't around....

...to see it get passed, it passed in early 1964, shepherded by Lyndon Johnson.

Yes, it was a form of "trickle down" but it actually worked, unlike Reagan's "trickle down".

The top marginal tax rate was reduced, as well as the corporate tax rate (very slightly) It also increased the speed that corporate estimated tax payments. For the first time there would be a standard deduction and personal exemption for everyone.

Although tax revenue was expected to drop, but it actually went up. Personal income went up, consumption went up, as did capital investments - all positive results.

In the first two years unemployment fell from from 5.2% to 3.8%.

On the one hand he was physically nauseated by a President that he voted for? Highly unlikely.

Pretending to have voted for the guy that nauseated him is a strange thing to lie about.
If it's calculated then it's a bit too easy for him to lie.
Alternative explanations would lead to questions concerning his mental fitness which is worse.

or the general election vote in NJ. I still remember canvasing with a co worker in suburban NJ for McGovern. I can still remember being with others who canvased on election night - a night where we were not surprised by the loss, but were saddened.

It was nowhere near as shattering as the loss in 2004, where until the last 2 weeks I had little hope though with everything I read, watched or saw I became more convinced that if he won, Kerry would be an exceptional President because of who he was. Normally, though I immediately supported our nominee it had always seemed that the more I read of the candidate's life - while there was still more good then bad, the more I saw flaws hidden before. Not so with Kerry, where the more I learned of this private person, the more impressed I became. Then there was the painful election day, where starting in the afternoon, it really seemed that he had pulled off a major upset. State after state looked better than expected. Then we learned the results late at night, with the concession the next morning. (As a statistician, I never bought the "shy" Bush voter explanation - and note that that was the last year we ever got the exit poll results as the polls closed.)

Then there was 2016, my husband and I decided to go to the Democratic party in Burlington that was open to all. Shortly before 8 PM, before we had any real hint of anything, we saw Madeleine Kunin and a few people with her leaving - the look on her face said it all. Obviously, she had contacts that gave her information not yet public. We stayed an hour or so more as the crowd became more somber.
