Biden w/huge lead among black voters so NYT runs front-page article abt how Dem candidates struggle

with black voters

Tweet from Eriic Boehlert with a damning photo of the image of this very misleading headline in today's New York Times.

Thread starts here, full text and pic below:

Biden enjoys huge lead among black voters so NYT runs front-page article abt how “Democratic candidates” are struggling w/ black voters......

the inside headline is even more bonkers: “Democratic candidates struggle to earn trust of older black voters”

Biden has like 6o-pt lead among older black voters

I'm glad Boehlert posted a photo of the actual front page, since the Times' website is using a different headline for this article:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/19/us/politics/bernie-sanders-black-vote-elizabeth-warren.html

The Big Ask of Black Voters: Trust the Government

And the Times actually does include the info about Biden's lead among black voters...but it's buried in the 8th paragraph.

The previous 7 paragraphs, like the headline, would tend to discourage blacks from voting for a Democratic candidate -- or would at least encouage them to think other black voters aren't likely to vote for them.

This works against Biden, the Democratic Party in general...and black voters.

WTG, NYT!

After the NYT allowed Peter Schweizer (author of Clinton Cash and conspiracy theorist extraordinaire) pen an OpEd, I'd had it. I canceled my subscription that day and never looked back.

We all want a younger, more progressive candidate, but we DON'T have the luxury of having the perfect candidate. We need someone who can take it to Trump. That's why the Rethugs are trying to destroy him. It's the same playbook--Operation Chaos by voting for Bernie Sanders who will be crushed by Trump if he's the nominee.

LISTEN. TO. BLACK. VOTERS!!!!

Amazingly enough, after 8 years of working with President Barack Obama, Joe Biden does not seem to have much problem getting support from Black voters. Yet, it is more than that. Being a six-term Senator in Delaware, where Black people make up about 21% of the electorate, meant that Joe Biden always had to keep the good of Black people in mind, to work with them, and to see their needs were not ignored. Joe Biden has spent much of his long life trying to help Black Americans go farther and higher up. This is why so many Black Americans support him, and this is why he will win the Democratic nomination.

look at how diverse our party is across all political offices. Black folks are not sitting on the sidelines in the Democratic party, they are part of the fabric of the party so I'm done with this topic.
