Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden have the same rating on Social Security.

The following ratings are based on the votes the organization considered most important; the numbers reflect the percentage of time the representative voted the organization's preferred position.

Joe Biden scores 89% by the ARA on senior issues
Ted Kennedy scores 89% by the ARA on senior issues

The mission of the Alliance for Retired Americans is to ensure social and economic justice and full civil rights for all citizens so that they may enjoy lives of dignity, personal and family fulfillment and security. The Alliance believes that all older and retired persons have a responsibility to strive to create a society that incorporates these goals and rights and that retirement provides them with opportunities to pursue new and expanded activities with their unions, civic organizations and their communities.

In 1985 Biden went around saying we should freeze entitlements including Social Security...during the height of the Reagan years where Democrats were trying to survive...he never voted against social security. And he voted against the lock-box combined with freezing the debt (balance budget)...thus helping kill it. I have posted his votes and Kennedy's votes for anyone who wants to look...pretty good website.

Both Kennedy and Biden voted to raise the full social security retirement age from 65 to 67 in 1983, that’s about the only negative I can think for either of those two on that subject.

The House Democrats had a +104 seat advantage under Tip O’Neil. Almost half the Democrats in Congress voted to cut social security by raising the age. I’m still firmly behind Biden of course, those were different times and circumstances almost 40 years ago.

Freeze entitlements; don't favor special interests
Biden toured the country in 1985 chiding groups like unions and farmers for being too narrowly focused and complained that Democrats too often "think in terms of special interests first and the greater interest second." In the latter case, Biden was specifically complaining about their opposition to his calls for a spending freeze on entitlements and an increase in the retirement age.

anyone who says Biden has or wants to cut Social Security is a damn liar-not saying you. Sanders is getting some vetting today going back a number of years...some was quite shocking and unknown to me...everyone knows Biden's shit...it came out when he was the VP candidate but few know about some of the new stuff I saw about Sanders which is why it would be more effective in a general than any of the stuff known about Biden for years which is so innocuous...it had to be doctored in videos in order to use it for Sirota's attacks.
