Could everyone please stop attacking other candidates

Everyone has their preferred candidate. I get that. But everyone needs to stop attacking their opponents. That only helps Trump and the Republicans.

Right now their are several posts on this board attacking Sanders. A few attacking Biden. And some more attacking the other candidates. This really needs to stop. One of these candidates will be our nominee. Attacks like these will only create bitterness among supporters of other candidates and we need to be fully united to beat Trump.

So please, please stop with all the attacks and negative posts.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

You have Democratic candidates (and one non-Democrat) competing against one another for the Democratic nomination. If we cannot be critical of candidates, how could there be any meaningful discussion that would help us decide on a candidate to support. I for one am really tired of all the stupid jury notices I get regarding posts that supposedly attack democratic candidates, when the discussions are fairly innocuous. It’s stupid. Grow a thicker skin. It’s politics.

And I'm a Sanders supporter.
Although I am getting very tired of the droning on about Sanders not being an official Democrat. When he is one of our candidates. When one can look at more than a few "official Democrats" that side with Republicans on many key bills. One even recently jumped ship to the other side. In comparison, it's a freakin letter in front of a name FFS.

But yeah, having ones post hidden and a very involved discussion cut off instantly, even if a little heated, is frustrating as hell, and shuts down important dialogue in a place that is supposed to be a discussion board. I think it's used by some as a way to silence others who may be getting the better of them in a debate. Thin skin indeed.

We must not fall into the MAGAT attitude that our candidate can shoot someone in daylight in the middle of fifth avenue and we are going to turn the other way, which is what I have seen a lot at DU. A gaffe is a gaffe is a gaffe no matter who made it, and we have to be critical of that action.

We must stop being fanatics of our candidates and allow ourselves critical thinking.

Bashing is sometimes an interpretation of factual news, things that we see in video which can be corroborated easily, and I believe we know what real bashing is and I agree that bashing cannot be condoned and must be rejected, but lets make sure we don't fall into trying to defend what cannot be defended, I am convinced that anyone of our candidates will beat the con, that of course will happen if the DNC is smart to place walls to prevent the cheating that we all know will come from the republicans aided by the Russians, mostly in the key states within the Electoral College. To this day I cannot understand why Democrats have not fought hard to get rid of the Electoral College, I cannot understand it.

The excuse I often see when the attacks are on Bernie is that “he’s not a Democrat” which totally ignores the fact that he’s running as a Democrat.

Dems should know the difference between good faith politicking and bad faith smear attempts. With Iowa coming up in just a month it's not too early to consider the tone we're using against our front runners.

Any one of them could be the candidate we'll all be voting for in November and we need to imagine Trump using divisions we create in the present time against us later.

and debate the position. I don't care about someone's op-ed about a candidate's personal life or spreading misinformation or twisted facts, that's manipulation. I don't care if the info comes from a campaign or not; they can be the worst offenders.

On vetting: The vetting should be done before it's posted here. We don't need this to be a sandbox turned litter box. We end up defending against false information more than discussing real issues and opinions.

We need to ask, what is going to educate us vs. what is going to divide us.

primary today, I would vote for:

Dizzying constant fistfights and spitting in faces. Degenerative. Yet it continues without regard to its negative impact on the quality of the DU community.

Dec 2019

and this is why...just got back from a week's long journey from the northeast down through W. Virginia, down through NC, 3 days in the Orlando theme parks and then back up through GA and SC, NC and VA visiting some historic/military sites all along the way.

And here's what I didn't see...not a single maga hat, t-shirt or bumper sticker...nor any flags flying...this includes multiple hops off I-95 traffic in the back roads of NC and GA. Nothing!

...what this tells me is that folks are figuring out that their guy ain't really their guy anymore and are afraid to show it and though many may still vote R for POTUS next year in secret because of some BS family tree guilt they have to deal with, I think a lot are having their lights turned on of late and realizing what's at stake. My 2 cents anyway...

So, lets have respectful discourse about our slate of candidates but keep cool with anything vicious because the tide is turning, my friends. We just have to keep at it to make sure nothing is left to chance.

That would be the least you can do, if you're asking others to respect all Democrats.

how is noting that she owes Pelosi an apology for calling her a racist an attack? Or offering her advice to pick her battles more wisely an attack?

And when did she start running for President?

67. And yet you're now calling for no attacks on Democrats, because that helps Republicans
Fri Jan 3, 2020, 08:02 PM
Jan 2020

but you were happy to attack a Democrat (when, just as with candidates' supporters, it's in favour of another Democrat), and what was worse, to help a libertarian against a Democrat.

Are you saying you only respect Democrats who run for president? Do you care nothing for the House? Because you are saying that's your excuse.

If you'd turned over a new leaf, that'd be fine. But you're unrepentant about the Ocasio Cortez attacks, after you've put yourself forward as being in favour of party unity.

I'm not sure you get this 'party' thing. You accuse party members of having "ideological blinders", and when asked to explain what on earth you're going on about, use the insulting and pointless "If I have to tell you you won't get it" crap. Without ever saying what the point was, apart from causing arguments.

...I think philosophical differences create the bitterness...but that's what primaries are supposed to iron out...

...I think you're worrying too much...

...even the most adamant Bernie or Biden supporter knows any one of our candidate's a 1000 times better than a trump...

...in the end, we'll all be working to defeat trump, guaranteed...

name from all discussions. Glaringly highlighted by his polling and fund raising. Not a doubt in my mind that a huge segment doesn’t want to see lower classes elevated in any way. Contrast this with the embarrassment projected when the MSM is forced to report the 2% tax threatening the benefactors of Trump’s wealth redistribution law of 2017.
