David Axelrod really likes Buttigieg. I wonder if he would be a good campaign manager? I

wish Pete would go ahead and formally announce he is running for president. I guess I am in just too much of a hurry.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

So based on this work record, I thought he might be a good choice. I could be wrong.

Do you have any suggestions? I know I am jumping the gun, but I want to think of anything but Trump.

What did Axelrod accomplish? Rahm was the primary advisor in the first two years. I was never sure what Axelrod's contribution was.

BUT (there are always those nasty buts) Axelrod discovered President Obama early on in Illinois after President Obama was bashed and beaten by one Bobby Rush in a congressional race. So Axe has an eye for talent.

My feeling is that if it becomes clear that Buttigieg will get the nomination, he will have his choice of campaign managers. My feeling is that he should ask Howard Dean to be his campaign manager. Dr. Dean understands to lower and middleclass mindset and can communicate with those groups to sell a progressive policy agenda.

Try to inform yourself. There have been numerous books written about the 2008 Obama campaign and Axelrod’s role in the organization. Contrary to what people seem to think even talented pols like Obama need talented people around them to help shape their messaging and advise during crisis. It’s pretty elementary stuff, folks.

He announced his exploratory committee a little over 60 days ago - around the time when he released his book.
He was operating on a pretty lean budget. Mayors pockets are not as deep as Senators.
Money he'd raised for prior campaigns was not all available to him due to the rules.
He recently doubled his staff from 20 to 40.
He's got the 65,000 donors he needs to crack the debates.
He's kind of got a tiger by the tail as he's rocketing up the polls and in heavy demand for media and book appearance commitments.

It is inevitable he'll announce. The only question is when. I suspect the answer to that is when he feels he's ready and got things in place. It's not hurting him getting air time right now. He has to start thinking bigger and get some talented staff because it's getting clear that he's going to contend.

I think Axelrod would provide some advice but I doubt he'd wade in like he did for Obama. It's an intense job.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
