Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI think someone who we least suspect just might surprise us all once the debates begin
We have such a big field of good people that it's really hard to decide on one person right now, especially since some of the candidates don't have nearly the same name recognition as others do. I have to admit that I knew very little about several of the candidates before they announced, and I still don't know enough about several of them.
For example, before they announced their candidacies, I had never heard Amy Klobuchar or Pete Buttigieg speak. Amy really impressed me during her town hall in NH with how she carried herself and how she didn't seem to pander to anyone for sake of getting them to like her. Her honesty was refreshing. I first heard Pete Buttigieg speak in an interview just a few days ago, and this guy seemed like the type of person who really knew how to run a government. Listening to him, I would have total confidence in him if he became president.
I think soon after the debates begin in June, someone is going to rise above the rest of the pack during the debates and grab us by our hearts. I can't wait for the debates to begin because as of now I have no idea who that person will ultimately be. Another reason that I can't wait for the debates to begin is because the spotlight will finally be where it belongs: on our fine Democrats instead of on Asshole all the time.
