Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI'm still undecided, but here are my top 5 *as of today.*
In no particular order:
O'Rourke
Booker
Sanders
Warren
Buttigieg
That being said, I'll obviously vote for the Democratic nominee and work hard to get him or her elected.
How about the rest of you?

(6,709 posts)Buttigieg is very impressive but I don't know much about him--maybe as veep.
I've got some definite "no"s (for the primary, before anybody shrieks)

(7,814 posts)1. My friend "Agent R" wants to see more debates to sort a few up or down.
2. I was surprised to hear that Agent R was clearly against one of our more popular candidates. I do not know the reason yet, because time was short and insufficiently private during our conversation.

Warren is great, but I think she may be more valuable in the Senate than beating her head against a wall dealing with the Senate.
O'Rourke, I suspect, actually has very little substance beyond the crowd appeal.
Bernie trails the field-- he's got the same speech he's had for years, and no evidence he can deal with Congress during the rough patches.
Booker, I've noticed, often talks too much. Great (and long) speeches, but I have to look closer at what he actually did in Newark.
Gillibrand is my senator, and she's been doing fine. I think she's got a shot at being a decent President, and I hold no grudge over Franken. She does not seem like she'll go too far, though, and may bow out after, or even before, the first primaries.
Biden, I think, is just too old and deep in the system to relate to a large swath of voters. Like Bernie, he lives as a hope for return to previous, but imaginary, days.
The rest of them, I really don't know enough about to think much any particular way.
None of this means anything, though. It's a year until it seriously starts, and anything can happen.

(7,596 posts)Buttigieg has won me over. If Biden and Sanders are just allowed to completely break all previous political norms by trying to be president while in in their early 80s, I see absolutely no reason why we can't have a president in their 30s. His wisdom and life experiences belie his age.

(3,275 posts)Four candidates that I would love to be the candidate.
Seven candidates that I would be okay with being the candidate.
Six candidates that I would prefer not be the candidate.
This will probably change as people enter and drop out of the race. Also, as I watch the debates, interviews and rallies. It is a long time until the primaries in my state.
Of course, I will support, campaign and vote for whichever candidate wins the democratic primaries in the presidential election.

(5,164 posts)So far I think it is Biden, discussed with a friend and we agree. I do not really like any of the others that much to be honest. Beto is my second choice for winnability. Honestly I think I have never really liked any of the prez I voted for that much, except hrc, but I have always voted straight dem ticket since becoming a citizen.
