My younger brother is a businessman, and has been a Republican all his life.

We generally don't talk politics since he basically refuses to with me. I tend to overheat when discussing it, and it's hard to deal with.

Anyway.

Today, he told me that he and his wife like Pete and they plan to vote for him in the CA primary. She's a Democrat.

To say I was surprised is an understatement.

I am very pleased! He's super intelligent and not a tea-party sort.

Just wanted to put that out there.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I am not sure I would brag about a Republican voting in the Democratic primary. If he has a sincere change of heart and accepts the overall philosophy of the Democratic party, then welcome.

who are "decline to state" people to ask if they want a ballot with Democratic, Libertarian or (Green Party?) candidates on it. Republicans are not welcome to vote for Democrats and Decline to State people are not welcomed to vote for Republicans. It's an odd system, but it's decided by the parties. This is only for national candidates. For state and local it's an open primary.

With all due respect to your brother. He may be very smart, but he sure as hell has blinders on, and has for decades.

It's taking far longer than we'd hoped, but the decent folks out there are coming around.

MY younger brother (also a lifelong R, but definitely NOT a smart businessman), has quietly taken down his pro-trump swag. Admitting he was wrong is something he'd never do, so this is the best-case scenario in this case.
