Andrew Yang qualifies for PBS NewsHour POLITICO debate

By ZACH MONTELLARO

Updated: 12/10/2019 05:02 PM EST

Andrew Yang has qualified for the December Democratic primary debate just days before this week's deadline, joining six other candidates on the stage.

Yang received 4 percent support in a national Quinnipiac University poll released on Tuesday, one of the two qualifying polls to be released after a nearly two-week drought.

Yang had come tantalizingly close to qualifying before — hitting 3 percent in 12 of the 26 December qualifying polls released so far, including a Monmouth University national poll released earlier in the day.

He is dealing with one of the central issues that will confront us in the near future- the relationship between compensable labor and livable incomes. We need that discussion.

One of the tragedies of modern politics is that there is little statement of the obvious.

Yang will not win the nomination, but I am very happy that he is saying what he is saying. He may end up in a cabinet post. Who knows?

I would love to see him have a place in the next Democrat admin or even as a member of congress. He finally opened a conversation we should have been having for at least the past 3 decades.

As he likes to say, the more unlikely part was going from a nobody to beating established politicians.

He has interesting things to say. Of the remaining candidates who haven't qualified before today, he most deserves a place on stage.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
