Tue Dec 10, 2019, 03:53 PM
Dec 2019

It's clear that the AA and POC communities have rejected his message and without their support, it's pure fantasy for the BS campaign to believe that he'll be our party's nominee. BS needs a different approach rather than just "writing off" states like South Carolina and trying to make up the difference in Iowa, Vermont and New Hampshire.

I'm sorry to say that aside from the occasional outlier poll or online poll, BS has a ceiling and he appears to have reached it. It's a mistake to focus exclusively on the forward-inching while ignoring the backward-inching. The campaign is stagnant. He probably shouldn't have staffed it with Jill Stein supporters, that sends the wrong message to loyal Democrats.

A lot will change in the near future and we will have to draw conclusions based on more than speculation.
Very little speculation is needed to understand that the BS campaign isn't going to draw support from those currently supporting 2nd tier and also-rans. When those candidates (eventually) drop out, their supporters will largely gravitate to Biden or Warren.

All speculation
The belief that BS can win the party's nomination without the support of AA and POC goes beyond speculation into the realm of fantasy. It's just not going to happen. And we've seen very clearly now that the AA and POC communities simply do not trust Bernie and his message just isn't connecting.

All I'm saying is that the BS campaign has already failed one of the most important challenges.

He has momentum and is going steady.

His campaign is stagnant and loyal Democrats aren't embracing someone whose top staffers are Jill Stein supporters and Jill Stein voters. That sends the wrong message.

The campaign is continuing to have a negative effect on his health and if he's had to "cut back" on the campaigning because of his cardiologist's orders, well, that's an option for him... but once someone is elected to be the president, he (or she) can "cut back" on being the president.

It's a high-stress job that takes a lot out of a person. If a candidate can't "survive" the campaign without being told to cut-back, then there's no way that he (or she) would do well in the office.

All I'm saying is that the American voters know this and aren't persuaded by some staged photos of playing basketball. The heart attack (and the fainting/falling spell from earlier) are serious and it frightens voters who know that we need a president with a strong and healthy heart and who can withstand and endure the rigors (both mental and physical) that the office requires.

For one, there are a dozen candidates running and he is still near the top. For another, nobody has voted and you cannot draw conclusions before the first primary. Evidence of his support is through record fundraising and volunteer base in key states.

primary today, I would vote for:

Less ironic is that you'll deny that irony.

Ironic, no? Near the top? Nearer to third than first. By far. By all objective measures.

I have a Twitter account primarily so I can see Tweets that people post. I've already seen what happens to people who get too addicted to the Twitterverse! DU did, however, lead me to Facebook or rather people I met here did (you know, enablers, ha, ha), plus my sister. A bunch of us moved over there, some drawn by the "games".

though I'm often afraid that something really important will happen if I'm not paying attention.

It was easier to take long breaks during the Obama years, as I wasn't afraid he'd alienate all our allies or blow up the world. I knew there was actual competence in the White House, it is such a blurred memory now. I could never have imagined what we are going through today. I thought Bush was as bad as it got! Now I'm afraid to even entertain the thought that it can't get worse than Trump.
