Don't panic folks, the Iowa numbers are screwy for a reason.

Our uber left is shifting again. And they will shift again. everybody breathe. Bernie is back up a little. Warrens people are still with her, and Bidens people are still with him. Mayor Pete is well liked, but there are things out there in the ether just like everyone else that will send the uber left shifting again. And do not think for a second that Amy Klobachar will not take off next month.

This is going to be a crazy caucus.

If I were to vote in a presidential

Joe Biden

I do not even understand why she allowed on the debate stage this late. Its time to start turning the corner and narrow down the field.

I'm sorry but Amy, Booker and several others have no chance of winning and it just takes up time on the debate stage and viewers are tuning out and not hearing the candidates that actually have a real chance.

Pete Buttigieg Jumps Out to Lead in Iowa Poll
Mr. Buttigieg had a surprisingly robust lead in the latest Des Moines Register and CNN poll. Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Joseph R. Biden Jr. were in a statistical tie for second.

DES MOINES — Pete Buttigieg continues to surge in Iowa, leapfrogging Senator Elizabeth Warren and former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. to hold a commanding lead among likely Democratic caucusgoers, according to a new poll from The Des Moines Register and CNN.
The poll showed that Mr. Buttigieg, the 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Ind., was the first choice for 25 percent of would-be Democratic caucusgoers, a significant increase from the 9 percent he held in September, when The Register last polled the state. The support placed him far ahead of the rest of the field — with the other three top candidates in a virtual tie for second: Ms. Warren at 16 percent and Mr. Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders at 15 percent.
The results are the latest evidence of Mr. Buttigieg’s strength in Iowa, where his moderate political views, plain-spoken style and military history have resonated in the early voting state. Since September, when he placed fourth in the Register poll, he has more than doubled his on-the-ground staff to over 100 and has opened more than 20 field offices. He recently completed another bus tour in the state.

Although he obviously cannot match Biden's decades of experience, his foreign policy address in the spring was very well received, and his comments on foreign policy matters throughout the campaign have been unfailingly knowledgeable, incisive and nuanced, even when he's asked questions on the fly. e.g., Columbia. Really funny because of 1 proposal, that mayor Pete is now not experienced enough in foreign policy. Not our job...what? I say look at rump and his idiotic forays in Ukraine and the big joke of foreign policy moves undertaken by the rump admin. Anything that Mayor Pete does will be a godsend compared to rump and Pete has served in the military, not president Bone Spurs.

Despite spending 100s of millions of dollars in S. America etc., to fight these org., build up their police forces with such aid, it hasn't worked (development of overseas, effective police forces). What do you recommend? Years past and the spending of 100s of millions of dollars hasn't worked. Strict enforcement of the laws on the books on trafficking hasn't worked, nothing has worked (other than the possible legalization which is a different issue/solution not discussed here).

I'm more sure Pete has experience dealing w/ illegal drugs on the front lines far more than a lot of folks being that he's right on the front lines (a city mayor). Far more upfront and personal in dealing w/ drugs. Definitely not rump since you can see the sniffling he does literally every day.

In reality, the candidate who is most likely to win next November will become the nominee, because we have a convention made up of delegates from every state. Voters decide who's delegates go to the convention, just as they will decide who wins in the general election.

I think I know who the nominee will be, although I admit I could be wrong about that. I do know, with absolute certainty, that I will be voting for our party's nominee. I have done that in every presidential election since 1968, the first election I could vote in. I realize that not everyone has the same commitment to supporting the Democratic nominee. Unfortunately, that attitude led to Donald Trump winning in the electoral college. The EC will still be there in 2020, once again. it's not going to go away. I hope we learned something, as a political party.

It is my hope that Donald J. Trump will not be on the 2020 ballot. I think he will not. In any case, it is going to take a solid commitment by Democrats, a strong GOTV effort in every state, and a turnout the likes of which we have not seen for a very long time to guarantee that a Democrat is inaugurated in January of 2021. The same conditions at the election will also ensure that we regain a majority in the Senate and increase our majority in the House.

If we can manage to do that, regardless of which Democrat is on the ballot, we will be in a position to make some marvelous progress over the ensuing four years. If not, then we will not. That is what is at stake.

So, we will have a Democratic nominee for President. I think I know who that will be, but I might have that wrong. I expect every Democrat to vote for our nominee, since to do otherwise is to lend support to the destruction of this nation.

I'll be 75 years old next November. It could well be my last presidential election. I hope that election goes well. Truly I do.

She can't win a Presidential election, though. She's just not well-enough known. I think she has probably reached her peak position as a Senator. I hope she sticks with that.

She might possibly get the VP nod, if Biden is the nominee. However, I think Biden will pick Harris, for other reasons.

California so we don't get an additional state or the chance of one. She has some baggage which I will not discuss here. But you can look it up...why is she a good choice? I would pick Sen. Klobachar over her anytime. I like Sen. Harris. If we want a Black woman...Stacy Abrams would be a good choice and we might get Georgia.

Neither Harris and Klobuchar are particularly progressive. At least compared to the Sanders/Warren model. Harris has made a slightly bigger national splash than Amy has, and is more dynamic on the campaign trail.

I know what Harris's baggage is. Why is she a good choice? Well, she's a woman, and that's a big factor. She is also a woman of color, which couldn't hurt in 2020. She has youth on her side, which may be more important than anything else. Klobuchar won't add any states, and I doubt that Abrams would bring Georgia along, either. Harris has a certain broad appeal with younger voters that is a little hard to define, I think, but paired with Biden, who is the "Ancient of Days" really, she'll make a good second for him. She gives a good speech, is personable, and is younger. Those are the three main things.

The decision on a VP candidate is a weird thing. A VP candidate can definitely hurt, but can't help all that much, really. A favorite son or daughter might bring in a state, but mostly the VP candidate is a sideperson for the main candidate. Harris could play that role pretty well, and has youth on her side, which could be an important factor.

I'd rather have Amy there as VP candidate, but I don't think she resonates very well in most places. She does great in Minnesota and has bipartisan support, but we know her here. Everywhere else, she's a stranger, though.

Just my opinion, of course.

No, probably not. The dancing is too good, and the shirt color is too subdued.

Maybe we'll see him dancing with Kanye on the Joel Osteen show.

Anyway, keep dancing folks, Pete would be a fine president. I'd be happy to vote for him.

A consensus in Iowa doesn't develop until late in the process. No reason at this point for anyone to be overly excited or disappointed.

into them. By the time I stepped in, the winner was pretty much reality. 2016 of course that reality existed but we had a contender that kept the race going, regardless of math. This season, I started paying attention way early and seems to be going on for a long time. Lots of shifts. And we still have a ways to go. Up and downs.
