Buttigieg campaign calls Warren's new health care plan a "transparently political attempt

to paper over a very serious policy problem."

Tweet from CNN's Dan Merica, with an image of the statement from Buttigieg communications director Lis Smith:

Sun Nov 17, 2019, 12:46 PM
Nov 2019

That really shocked and disappointed me, I thought her political instincts were better than to let that happen. But I believe that she can execute a ju jitsu move to get out of that corner and back in control of the race. What she needs to do in the debate is say something along the lines "MFA is the longterm best course, but when we analyzed the fine details, we realized that implementing it without a smooth path to it would be disruptive to the economy and a lot of people's lives, and that would weaken the public's resolve to move to a sane longterm healthcare delivery system. I fully plan to have the country in MFA by the end of my first term, but how I will do that is different from how I planned to before my exhaustive study of how best to implement MFA". Then she bats back the attacks from Mayor Pete and turn those back on him.

I like Pete, but I would like to see more substance about the specifics of the fatal flaws and also details on how other ideas would be better (and why). I dislike the tone of this too. I feel like it's making Warren out to be someone who wants to screw over the American people. I don't feel like that last sentence is accurate either based on what Warren has said. Maybe he plan isn't feasible or there are flaws, but it's well intended. I want to hear specifics when discussing these plans. I want to feel like the candidates all have an understanding of each other's plans/ideas.

I prefer the idea of a public option over MFA (at this time), but I would like my preferred candidate to release statements with actual substance to them.

Battleground Tracker poll (showing Warren losing 140 delegates in the last month) and the Des Moines Register poll, Warren pulled the rug out from under her own campaign.

I was sure she'd been hurt by last month's debate, and I didn't think her attempts to make up for that since then, attempts which looked rather desperate, had helped her.

And now Obama has made it clear the party shouldn't go too far left, and Pelosi and HRC have issued similar warnings.

IMO a lot of Warren supporters (and possibly Warren herself) have assumed she could pick up a lot of Sanders supporters from the left wing of the party without being perceived as being too far left herself, despite espousing similar policy ideas.

The political instincts of anyone who believed that are off.
