70% of Americans WANT a Medicare for All healthcare system.

https://thehill.com/hilltv/what-americas-thinking/412545-70-percent-of-americans-support-medicare-for-all-health-care

Seventy percent said they supported providing "Medicare for all," also known as single-payer health care, for Americans, according to a new American Barometer survey.

The poll, conducted by Hill.TV and the HarrisX polling company, found that 42 percent of respondents said they "strongly" supported the proposal, while 28 percent said they "somewhat" supported it.

Fifteen percent said they "somewhat" opposed the measure, while another 15 percent said they "strongly" opposed it.

The results mirrored a Reuters-Ipsos poll released in August, which also found that 70 percent of Americans supported "Medicare for all."

The poll comes as an increasing number of Democrats have touted the proposal as health care becomes a major campaign issue ahead of the midterm elections.

"'Medicare for all' is a way for Democrats to say basically, 'Hey, we understand that this is an issue, and we're willing to do something about it,'" Democratic pollster Nancy Zdunkewicz told Hill.TV's Joe Concha on "What America's Thinking."

"This specter of government takeover of health care, I don't even hear it in focus groups with white, working-class Trump voters. They'll say things like 'I really like Medicare, why can't we all have something like that?'" she continued. .......

This was 2018 when 92% of Democrats wanted single payer. Primary battles are knocking the number down.

Kaiser’s current poll is showing 51% support.

2. That poll was done a year ago, and the question was badly worded and could be easily understood

as meaning "Medicare for all who want it" -- in other words, the public option.

The question was simply, "Would you support or oppose providing Medicare to every American?"

Nothing about there being no choice. Nothing about forcing people to give up private or employer health care they like.

Nothing about higher taxes.

Although it seems FiveThirtyEight doesn't offer a rating for this pollster (Kaiser Family Foundation)...

Support for Medicare-for-all has narrowed in recent months, with 51% now saying they favor a national health plan and 47% opposed. At the same time, support for a public option has inched up since July, with 73% now saying they favor a government plan that would compete with private health care plans and 24% opposed.

these "choices". Look at that support and they have no argument against Medicare for All.

A common theme among supporters, regardless of how we ask the question, is the desire for universal coverage (Figure 8).

I think EW just lost the primary.

?t=60

Remember these commercials against Clintoncare...they led to one of the worst losses ever...and it is beyond foolish to start from nothing instead of building on the ACA.

Their operation costs to run are a fraction of what private insurance companies are, and we pay them , so why have both when we only need one. My private insurance is costly compared to what would be saved with a Medicare for all. So would I like saving a lot on not having a costly private insurance premium who'll overcharge for their insurance, or one that's already affordable, run cheaper, and better organized. I would, and not having to have an extra premium to pay for. The costs for Medicare for all would be easily offset by not having a monthly premium for my private insurance, that doesn't pay first anyway, so the private insurance company is making out like a bandit by subsidizing Medicare by making them have to pay any bills first. If we had a choice would you rather pay $200 a month for Medicare, or $800 a month for your private insurance ? For me Medicare is much better and a lot lee to pay for.

It's kind of like Republicans coming to value the ACA but agreeing with McConnell and Sanders that Obamacare is bad and must be destroyed.

Except people who haven't really considered Sanders' proposal beyond its great marketing name -- YET -- have more excuse for just thinking, "Yeah, that sounds good. We LOVE Medicare. Without it my in-laws might be living in what used to be our front room."

I'm not sure there's any evidence of the primary season being the cause.

Polls have shown that as people learn more about M4A, their support of it tends to decline and more people support starting with the ACA and working toward single-payer from there.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
