Just like the media. You want her to say the words "I will raise taxes" so that you can have a club to wield. She has answered. You and Harris are smart enough to know what that means. Don't be disingenuous.

Costs are costs. If you pay $100 for a plane ticket, but pay a $50 fee for boarding and $25 for a carry on and $50 for each checked bag and $15 for a meal, it is cheaper if I charge you $135 for a ticket that includes boarding, baggage, and meals.

This stuff is too important to use right wing rhetoric to score cheap points.

It would be a good compromise.

What we do not want to do is suddenly dump several million people into the Medicare system all at once. Doing that can badly mess up a program. I worked for an insurer that did a lot of huge group plans (like 10,000 plus members); open enrollments were staggered around the year to avoid a huge backlog at the end of the year.

the media knows damn well taxes will go up and be OFFSET by people not paying for their medicals plans OUT OF POCKET which costs FAR MORE than the tax increase will. STOP ACTING LIKE A TAX INCREASE HAPPENS IN A VACUUM WITHOUT EMPLOYEES MAKING MORE MONEY IN TERMS OF LESS PREMIUMS

155. yes, I do not understand why an advocate for MFA like Sanders or Warren do not do that
Tue Oct 15, 2019, 08:49 PM
Oct 2019

say

yes, if you make (for example) 100K as a family you taxes will go up by say 10,000 usd or so, BUT your premiums and co-pays and drugs bill go all away completely, so you end up paying far less

it is even more dramatic for a family (or individual) making 35,000 or 50,000

my main issue with MFA is NOT the actual nets cost (estimate say 32 trillion to 38 trillion over 10 years , BUT if we do nothing, total US healthcare costs for that same 10 years will be around 45 to 50 trillion, with us spening 6 trillion per year by 2029 or so)

that is not my main issue

it is that it simply will never pass in the foreseeable future even if we have 60 Dems in the Senate, and 275 Dems in the House

the Rethugs have framed it, will frame it, and Big Pharma, Big Healthcare and Big Insurance have and will fame it (along with conservadems) in such a way that it will terrify so many tens of millions of voters and even if we did somehow get it passed, we would be utterly wiped out the next series of elections and it will be undone. Even if it is somehow up and running, can you imagine what the Rethugs will do TO ITS BUDGET AND FUNDING when they get into power?????

think about it

over the next 20 years, at current rates of increase, we are talking about WELL over 120 TRILLION spent on healthcare in the US

even at relatively small profit margins, that is TRILLIONS upon TRILLIONS in PROFITS at stake for all the private industries involved

they are NEVER going to give up that gravy train

it sucks, but there it is

The Democratic National Committee has made a commitment to increasing the diversity of debate moderators this cycle and agreed to include at least one person of color and one woman in every debate.

Over his 20 years at The New York Times, Marc Lacey has worn many hats: a White House correspondent, a foreign correspondent who has reported from dozens of countries, the editor of the weekend news report and, now, the National editor.
