Trump supporter pulls gun on Democrat during road rage incident on busy Moorhead road

MOORHEAD — A West Fargo man is in jail after police say he threatened a woman with a handgun after getting into an argument on the road with her over her bumper sticker supporting Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren.

About noon Monday, Oct. 7, officers were sent to the area of 24th Avenue and Eighth Street South in Moorhead for a disturbance call, according to a news release from the Moorhead Police Department.

A woman told police she was driving south on Eighth Street when a man pulled up next to her and yelled at her saying he disliked her bumper sticker supporting Warren.

Moorhead police spokesman Capt. Deric Swenson later said the man’s vehicle had a pro-Donald Trump sticker on it.

Police said in a news release that the man then pointed to his own political bumper sticker and talked about his different political views. Swenson said the woman had “engaged” with the man for about eight blocks before he drove past the woman's vehicle and held up a handgun.

Officers were able to locate the suspect inside a restaurant in the Brookdale Shopping Center and found a loaded handgun in his vehicle's center console, according to the release. Police said the passenger in the suspect's vehicle confirmed what reportedly happened.

The driver was arrested and identified as Joseph Schumacher, 27, of West Fargo. He was booked into the Clay County Jail. Police have requested that prosecutors charge Schumacher with felony terroristic threats and having a loaded handgun inside a vehicle without a permit, which is a misdemeanor.

So much for rump supporters being old, southern men. I have to admit that I can’t imagine why she “engaged” with him for eight blocks. It’s best to get the hell away from crazy asshats...as quickly as possible.

"Trump Terrorists"

Road rage is a lazy journo way to package the story, and sell papers. This is a national threat that needs high-beam coverage.

Prosecute the terrorism, ban him from weapons and pickup trucks for life, and make this un-American activity.

Pull this sonofabitch over right now.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2018/10/10/truck-with-trump-bumper-stickers-was-left-bar-overnight-someone-set-it-fire/

On Monday night, Johnny MacKay surveyed the parking lot of the Garage Bar and Grille in Vancouver, Wash.

He had had a few drinks and planned to take an Uber home, he told KOIN News, and he figured a spot directly under a street lamp would be the best place to leave his truck parked overnight.

Photos of the Nissan Titan pickup were mostly nondescript, save for two small stickers on the back bumper: One read “TRUMP 2020” and the other read “TRUMP: KEEP AMERICA GREAT! 2020”

Now MacKay thinks those stickers made him a target.

During the night, Randy Sanchagrin, who lives in a house adjacent to the bar, heard — and felt — an explosion, according to KOIN News. He ran outside and began filming, capturing MacKay’s truck as it was consumed by bright orange flames.

“By the time I ran back to the street, it was so bad there was no getting close to it,” Sanchagrin told the news station.

But it could be.

Whether they put the stickers on their truck or not, they are the thoughts of every supporter.
Any supporter that tells you he's different isn't able to pass a Dunning-Kruger test. Shame them.

Also, way to prove that responsible gun owners are not a problem...until they are. I swear, far too many people lack the ability to think things through and behave in ways that are not counterproductive to their cause/beliefs/whatever.

on their front page were the stereotypical "mountain man" locals. Now, I am not anti-beard (though well-groomed beards would be my preference) but really... I've lived traveled all over the West and the prevalence wasn't overwhelming of guys that look like they came out of Deliverance or the Unibomber's cabin.

Well, one thing is for sure. I'd not engage with him. But, then I've never felt comfortable putting any kind of bumper sticker on my car. Too many nuts out there. The one time I had a car vandalized, it was because of a spare tire cover that had a small college sports team logo.
