Mon Sep 23, 2019, 04:54 PM
Sep 2019

Both of the Adams did not attend: John Adams felt the election had been stolen from him, and John Quincy Adams was unwilling to see Andrew Jackson claim the office. Andrew Johnson refused to attend Grant's ceremony, and Woodrow Wilson, though he rode to the Capitol with Harding, left before the event began.

John Adams could be characterized as a fit of pique. John Q. felt Jackson was beneath the position, while Andrew Johnson had quite a number of issues, both personal and political. Wilson had serious health concerns.

Trump? I can easily see him not attending. He'll try to rationalize it, make it appear something mature, but it'll be the tantrum of a child. And we'll all feel greater when he's gone, both personally and as a nation. Isn't that what he's promised us all along?

In recent times the new President sees the former President off on the North side of the Capitol after the swearing in and speech. The former President and First Lady usually depart via Marine One and are taken to Andrews where they board Airforce One which has a special call sign for this flight. Somehow I cannot see Trump missing out on milking the government for one more free ride. I am quite sure the entire clown posse will want to take that ride.

He'll probably invite his favorite white (inter)nationalists, dictators and other kindred fascists to come kiss his ring (while he's still officially prez) as they plot their next diabolical moves to enrich themselves and screw the rest of us. To me that's the logical scenario if his efforts to cling to power fail. I don't think he likes the WH or Washington at all... just the perks. Only color allowed: The tie. But it must always be tied with the Windsor or half Windsor knot. Even a bow tie is fashion statement fraught with danger.

Now, those dudes in the 16th and 17th century? The ones who could afford it? Now THAT was style!

Women today have it much better in that respect with the only requirement appearing to be that it must be a dress of some sort and so with the freedom to create ...some can be absolutely amazing.

But men? Boring. There again: at least we don't have to agonize over what to wear, the only challenge being the choice of tie.

He'll be worried that he'd be arrested as soon as <your Dem choice here> completes the oath of office. The new president would be violating the oath if he wasn't since it includes:

"...will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

No one, to date, has been a greater violator. I'll note his skin will blend well with his new jump suit, and we'll finally get to know what he really weighs...

it should start low, and build... (repeated at least twice)

Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na
Hey, Heyeee
GOODBYE!

and end in a thundering CRESCENDO....

Now THAT would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up with absolute JOY!!!

Ueberroth, who, in 1984 was chairman of the U.S. Olympic Committee. During a press conference Ueberroth was asked if he expected the Soviets and their communist allies to attend the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

USSR had threatened to boycott the L.A. event in retaliation to the U.S. boycott of Moscow's Olympics in 1980.

Ueberroth ended his statement with, "If they don't want to come, they can stay the hell out".

In the spirit of Ueberroth's 1984 comment, I'll say:

"If the Trumps don't want to come, they can stay the hell out".
