Why I'm excited about Elizabeth Warren's candidacy.

Because it shines a bright light on some really simple, straightforward, but effective actions we can take to mitigate income inequality. Two of these ideas are the significant tax on the very wealthiest and free/limited cost childcare. I was excited just with the first one, but my enthusiasm rose when she announced the second one. Now I'm looking forward to other simple, but effective ideas.

Simple excites me because it doesn't bump into the high barriers thrown up by structural change (like eliminating insurance companies).

Effective excites me for the obvious reason. But what's important is that these ideas don't nibble. They're big enough to matter.

I'm still an undecided DUer because I don't think Warren is the most electable. I like her a LOT. But my experience is that people that I like a lot tend to arouse negative feelings in a bunch of others.

But I really do hope her ideas get elected. I think that's do-able.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

She "gets it" about messaging and how to package ideas that most people want but aren't used to hearing as attainable goals. We as a society have been brainwashed by 50+ years of billionaire propaganda into thinking that this country can't do much of anything for the greater good.

My hope is that once the American people hear her speak on national platforms such as the debates that her candidacy will take off.

I would enthusiastically vote for Warren. Harris is the nominee that gets me excited, so I know the feeling.

... about a primary season. They're ALL good! Such a difference from the equally large pool for the Republicans last time. I'm not referring to Dem vs Repub. I'm just thinking that if I had been a Republican the pool would not have excited me.

you are absolutely right. It didn't seem a primary campaign full of excitement and optimism, did it? More anger. They were angry at each other and the world it seemed to me.

Their campaign was about everything they were against. I like to hope that our campaign this time will be about what we are for.

Although there are Democratic candidates I disagree with (sometimes strongly) I cannot say I dislike any of them.

Call me naive, but I think all of our candidates have their heart in the right place.*

*Reserves the right to be bitter and disillusioned for a few days early next year if my candidate, battered and bruised, abandoned by the political gods, exits the race.

... I wouldn't call you naive. I'd call you perceptive. I do believe most Democrats want good for people. I used to think that about Republicans, long ago in the mists of time.

P.S. - Are you really for Hickenlooper? (Who's he?) Or is this just another way of saying "undecided?"

He'll be jumping into the race in the next couple of months. He's already visiting Iowa and New Hampshire.

He's a two-term governor, has been a mayor, a business owner, he's been unemployed, he's been a geologist, he is intellectually curious about a myriad of topics, and I just think he is a very thoughtful and very authentic person.

He also seems to be a nice guy (touch of the modest Jimmy Stewart charm in his interactions) who is the very opposite of Trump. He isn't the flashiest, he certainly won't have the most money, he is an absolute long shot, but he is qualified, and I believe he is the one who can bring the country together, as unlikely as that sounds.

He's not for everyone and he no doubt has his faults (which he would be the first to tell you) but he's my candidate

I don't wish to be so rude as to sidetrack your excellent thread on Elizabeth Warren, so do forgive me, but, for anyone who might be curious, here is a video of Hickenlooper in New Hampshire last week. It rather sums the man up.

Elizabeth Warren is probably the most energetic of our candidates. That will make her a great comparison to the current resident of the White House.
