Trump goes after Joy Reid this morning and DU promptly joins in with multiple threads trashing her

Coincidence? I think not.

She did not rebut anything either her guest or the author of that column said about Biden supposedly being a racist.

Sat Sep 14, 2019, 11:32 PM
Sep 2019

Joy Reid was part of the panel, and she praised Biden big time, she was on Biden's camp at that time, but maybe things that Biden has said/done, his history have turned Joy away from his camp.

I have said it in other posts, there seems to be some kind of fanatism for both Biden and Pelosi in DU, and that is not healthy. When either of them do or say something that goes against Democratic principles we must be able to analyze and have opinions about it. We cannot become fanatics, that is for republicans, not for open minded Democratic liberals. There are reasons why we are liberals, one of them is that we accept other people's opinions, we use them to learn, to make decisions, but we always keep our ears and eyes open.

Now, I have been saying for a while that the creature, and the republicans, seem to want Biden to be the nominee, they see his gaffes, and they know so much about Biden that for them it is easier to go after him. That is my opinion.

Again, this has nothing to do with the person Biden, I think he was a good VP, and I like him as a person, if he becomes the nominee I will definitely vote for him, there is no doubt. Now, do I think he is the right candidate? No I don't, and that is my opinion which I hope can be respected the same I respect the opinion of those who support him.

I think there has been a bit of an over reaction to Joy Reid.

One of Biden's strengths is projecting that calm confident demeanor. He avoids the whining and petty spats that some other candidate revel in. It's why the slings and arrows of media pundits do so little harm.

a lot against him; so it is no surprise she'd have a guest to say it on. She really hates him. You have to see her talk about him and you can realize it. She and a couple of her guests were really laying it on thick about his reaction to Kamala's ploy. It got high school girl level, they were sneering that he said he thought they were friends and then went on to say "Well, Joe, Kamala is not trying to be your friend, she is running for President" as if Kamala were seriously running and Biden just a little boy crying about a meanie making fun of him. It was not rational, nor adult, nor sophisticated political comment. Biden was and still is way ahead of Harris, so this kind of attitude was strange.

She would not do that to the others because of not having the same hatred for them. She could not stand the sound of Biden's voice, she said, which shows hatred. I can't stand the sound of Orange Maniac's voice, but I would not say that about any Democrat.

I've read multiple threads here today about Joy Reid, and none of them were about her "not being nice enough to one particular presidential candidate". They were about Reid calling on Biden to get out of the race.

Right now, Biden is the front-runner; i.e. more Democrats support him than the other candidates. That could change at any time - but that's where we stand right now.

By calling on Biden to drop out of the race, Reid has obviously decided that her opinion should override the opinion of those who support him - which is the opinion of the majority of Dems who have expressed that support to date.

It would behoove Ms. Reid - and Bill Maher, Michael Moore, etc. - that we collectively as Democrats will choose who our nominee is, and NOT the pundits, TV show hosts, and filmmakers who seem to think their own political opinions to be somehow superior to ours.

As for Trump "going after" Joy - name a day when he's not going after someone. And just because he does so doesn't mean that if he's pissed-off at someone we are also pissed-off at (for very different reasons), we are somehow "joining in" with Trump.

...if someone had the quote they'd post it.

What they're doing is treating this black woman's news show differently than every other news org that previews their guests and themes of segments on twitter, and represented that teaser as Reid calling for Biden to leave.

Every other news personality on that network tweets out the themes of segments of their show, and NONE of them are accused of saying, inferring, or believing what their guest has said for doing so.

This is one hell of a smear, and it should stop now.

She said EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF THE GUEST, IN RESPONSE.

Watch the show. That's something I'd expect from anyone coming on here to criticize this woman. The tweet doesn't even say anything of the sort, anyhow. What the fuck is this really all about, because I see this rare, prominent, black news journalist getting trashed here for something she just did not say, and did not agree with on her show.

You're obviously not following 'black twitter.' I am extensively connected with those sources, and I can tell you, categorically, that DU has no idea of the level of discussion that's occurring there about Biden today from prominent writers and professionals. That's what actually alerted me to the concern over Biden's remarks, not one guest on Joy Reid's show.

All of that aside, making it an issue that a bunch of anonymous people on the bot-ridden twitter believe anything, should force a closer examination of just who is making those remarks.

Tell you what, bring us some of those objections to Joy and let us see for ourselves what the source of them is.

Early on, Group A declares who the Democratic Party nominee must be and then sets the standard for what will be considered “trashing” or “bashing”....which is usually any opposing view. It’s the Get-In-Line-Or-I’ll-Crush-You approach, which, when observed in the Republican Party, generates cries about lock-step foul play.

The glass house folks should put down their stones and accept that this is a process, not a foregone conclusion. At this stage of the game we don’t all have to match. We don’t even have to decide.

to her/MSNBC's hostile messages. Patterns and themes, all right. You know MSNBC worked hard to defeat our party in 2016. And they're doing it again, in this case delivering attacks on our Democratic candidates and our values and reputation through a black anchor and pundits. Divide and conquer.

I used to watch and admire Reid, assuming she'd outgrown and left behind dishonorable past behaviors as her career developed. Apparently not, and I no longer auto record her.

I believe she should have refused the Saturday morning entry-level show since this is what's required of the anchor. Yes, that might have been a blow to her career. Maybe. But maybe sticking to subbing for, and being identified with, the powerful evening anchors would have been a better route, building on the strong admirable persona she'd developed instead of inflicting severe damage on it.

..she's no less objective than any other news host, and this assault on her is insidiously wrong, based on a false claim that that TWEET announcing a segment on her show was Joy Reid calling for Biden to withdraw.

Without that lie, no one would be going on and on about what her guests said on her show (which is not only balanced with different opinions, but balanced in the segment in question with Joy playing the devils advocate to her guest's suggestion Biden step down.)

Anyone criticizing Joy Reid with this nonsense about being biased against Biden, or her show's format being biased against ANYONE in our party is not supported by FACTS, and obviously don't watch her show (doesn't even sound like you watched the one in question because you're misrepresenting it so badly.)

You can't just separate something you don't like from her show and define her with that.

the premise was incorrect. Reid's been off my list, joining anti-Democratic spin artists like Chuck Todd, Alisyn Camerota, Andrea Mitchell, for some weeks now. For cause. Lots of people who once watched her have been complaining, here and on other social media, about the turn she took on her new show.

I'm so repelled by what I experienced as hostile content that I now change the channel even when she's subbing on a program I normally watch, whose themes she'd be forced to follow. I gave her the only second chance she'll get from me after this when I relegated to the past the whole old gay-bashing/fake hacking thing.

As for Trump's bashing, that attention has to be very good for her. Maybe make up some for hemorrhaging former admirers who'd once happily set her new program to record each week.

She was critical of Trump on another show, so Trump lashed out as he always does. There was some anti-Biden content from a guest on her show, so some hyper-sensitive Bidden supporters here blew a gasket.

There's nothing weird or conspiratorial about it. Reid just happened to draw the ire of both on the same day through her words and interview. She gets criticized plenty without Trump having an unhinged rant.

Today after an amazing speech by Biden, Tiffany Cross and a guy name Jason attacked Biden because they were mad that he gave such a good speech.

Back in May, AMJOY went after Biden and I stopped watching her show for a while. I am not happy with AMJOY. Cross and the Jason guy basically attacked Biden today because he gave a good speech.

I personally want to be beat trump and I do not believe that the Democratic Party can nominate a far left candidate and still win. I do not believe that we need to push for fundamental change because trump is such a weak candidate. to function due to centuries of racist oppression is "blaming black parents for their shortcomings" you've stymied me. I guess it would be offensive and hurtful to admit that slavery, Jim Crow and discrimination have caused harmed to black people and is blaming black people for their disadvantages.

This is almost as good as how offensive it is to teach black history to a mixed-race class, because it will draw attention to the black children in the class and make them feel uncomfortable, while stiff unforgivable to teach it to race-separated classes to avoid that, and even worse to solve the problem by teaching black history to no one.

...these people you oppose don't conform to your political view.

But it shouldn't take much thought to understand that they are just as committed in their opposition to Trump as you are. In fact, many of the issues these folks you call 'far-left' are pursuing affect individuals in this country directly, often threatening their lives and livelihoods in ways that many can only imagine.

Pushing aside their concerns in order to position a campaign would be offensive enough. Giving their concern short-shrift, and denigrating them with invective labels is just politics for politics sake, not very inspiring for an election where Democrats are deciding who best to lead us into the future.

And I've talked before about the supporters who are looking to these candidates you feel are outside of your political spectrum. They will be needed to fill out our Democratic coalition. Telling them you want to win offers them nothing, and you're likely to get the same in return from people looking for representation for their life-determining issues, and protection against their disintegrating environment.
