Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumUnlike previous runs, Joe Biden is building out Iowa campaign team with 'robust' hiring,
Biden is ahead in Iowa and has a very good team and ground game.
"Joe Biden is building the kind of top-tier Iowa organization that eluded him in his previous runs for president. The former vice president benefits from a deep well of goodwill in the state. And at campaign stops, Biden frequently promises Iowa voters he plans to work hard to earn their support...His campaign is making good on that promise by locking in existing backers and bringing in new support through extensive spending on social media and outreach from a growing staff roster. By Aug. 1, the campaign says it will have about 75 total staff members in Iowa, 60 of whom will be field staff...
...In fact, Biden's operation is now one of the largest if not the largest so far in the state, surpassing many of his Democratic rivals. U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren's campaign reported 65 staffers in Iowa as of July 1, while U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders had 48, former U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke had 44 and U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris had nearly 50. South... Mayor Pete Buttigiege, has been hiring quickly in Iowa as well. His team went from 39 staffers on July 1 to 57 on July 22...
...Biden's campaign showcased its organizing muscle on July 20 when campaign organizers led volunteers in events in 20 communities across Iowa, reaching about 25,000 Iowans through door knocking, phone calls and speaking with voters, the campaign said."

(68,347 posts)Some candidates want it because it is their only path to victory in the primary...but it is a sure loser for the general.

(1,501 posts)You're right about the whole day inconvenience. I think Iowa will stay a caucus forever but other states are looking into getting rid of it. I like the concept though. If New Jersey had it, I would love it but we have too many people who have too many cars on too little land. It would get loud and ugly. People would die. lol

(68,347 posts)a year until I hit High School...Dad was an inventer and did trouble shooting. My husband worked for GM and is an engineer. He retired early a couple of years ago. We moved for jobs...all the plants in the east closed as did Georgia and WI and Ohio ( Lordstown) Now we are in the Cleveland part of Ohio. He works in steel. I love the East Coast and miss it. My brothercsrtill lives there but I really like Cleveland...great theater-both local and professional. They say when the new theaters are ready, we will be bigger than New York. It is very affordable here with great museums and much to do. When we were first married ,we tried to buy in Jersey but we couldn't afford it...ended up in PA...then more places and finally in Ohio.

(1,501 posts)Cleveland has some gorgeous historical landmark buildings that I would love to live in if there was a job opportunity. When those theaters are built, do you think Cleveland will become a performing arts mecca for the region?
