“Marianne Deborah Williamson (born July 8, 1952)[1] is an American author, lecturer, and activist. She has written 13 books,[2] including four New York Times number one bestsellers in the "Advice, How To and Miscellaneous" category.[3][4][5][6] She is the founder of Project Angel Food, a volunteer food delivery program that serves home-bound people with HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses.[7] She is also the co-founder of the Peace Alliance, a nonprofit grassroots education and advocacy organization supporting peace-building projects.[8]

In 2014, as an independent, Williamson ran unsuccessfully to represent California's 33rd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. On January 29, 2019, she announced her campaign to seek the Democratic nomination for the 2020 United States presidential election.[9] “

She not my choice for president, nor is she others', but far from crawling out under a rock, she made the cut according to the rules which means a significant number of people are supporting her. Further, she does/has done a lot of good and walks her talk unlike some I might name. And, the other day I heard John Lewis interviewed and he too spoke of love being a solution.

That's a lot of donations from a lot of people who think her spirituality would be a good fit for being POTUS.

In the Age of Trump, who can blame them? Not only is she a good person while he is utterly vile, but he rode the wave of his popularity with vile and stupid people all the way to the White House -- thus separating "electability" from "qualifications" once and for all.

ETA: I've got a couple of her books on my shelves I've been meaning to read but never got around to. I know a number of people who admire her thoughts and swear by A Course in Miracles, which she channeled. I'm not big on channelling.

And the only way to do that is to touch people's hearts. You know, the part of the brain that rationally analyzes an issue is not the same part of the brain that decides who to vote for.

Donald Trump has had a psychological effect on people. He has had an effect on the human psyche within people, but it's very dark, and it is not amenable to change by strictly rational argument.

I am someone who has had a career moving audiences. I'm someone who has had a career moving crowds and moving movements. I have a sense of what he has done. And the only way to defeat big lies is with some big truth.

And so the skill he has, the light side of that is what I can do.

She was considered a snot in junior high, even by her family apparently, because her father (civil rights attorney Sam Williamson) took her to Vietnam in the summer before high school. There was, btw, a war going on. I went to a different high school, but my friends who went to her school said she became the nicest person. They all loved her. She's kept her compassion--and quirkiness.
