but he had great respect for the power of his position. So glad that Joe took a moment to reflect on his passing.

...Stevens. Reagan appointed O'Connor. (And, of course, Scalia.) Bush Sr gave us Souter--as well as, of course, Thomas. But they weren't ideologically committed to fascist lunatics *all* the time. Maybe we'll live to see that party emerge again someday...but I'm not holding my breath...
