Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI am 62 years old.
I am old enough to remember the massive controversy over busing in the 1960s / 1970s. What struck me then and now, was the amount of opposition to busing in the Northeast from whites. In areas that were solidly Democratic. The actions of many whites was simply awful.
Although I like Biden, I think Harris was right in going after Biden. The fact she was able to personalize the issue made it that much stronger.
I would love to see a Warren / Harris or vice versa ticket.
And no, Harris was NOT angry.

I feel 62 physically, but not mentally. I think I am still in my early 20s. Until I look in the mirror, or have to bend over.

(14,087 posts)was terrible about bussing from what Ive read. Very racist backlash. Theres that famous image of the guy with the flagpole attacking the African American. Terrible.
Im not sure whether bussing was the right solution or not but I can say with certainty that racism was behind a lot/most of the backlash.

(86,834 posts)I was older and living in a small city with integration due to lack of multiple schools at the time. We only had two Jr High schools and one high school for the entire city so we either went or we didn't. But we were only 40 miles from Boston so it was a thing for us even though we wouldn't be getting bused. The only kids that were bused around in our world were the kids coming in from rural areas, even from Mass while we were in NH. Of course, I was considered a (n-word) so I was always treated as less than wherever we lived. I felt that there was no place for me anywhere.
