I see no indication that Democratic Primary voters, or even Party activists, will be supporting him (or even learning about him) in any significant quantity. He's likely to be even less successful than Mike Gravel.

that you're making such statements with John Hickenlooper adorning the bottom of your posts. Hickenlooper, in all likelihood, is going nowhere. And I fully acknowledge that my pick also puts me in the "statistically insignificant sample."

But I'll only change my vote when Pete is eliminated from the race.

10. Well, let's see...

1. Hickenlooper was, until January, the twice-elected Governor of a not insignificant State.

2. His Uncle Bourke was Governor and Senator from Iowa, giving him a measure of name recognition in the early Iowa Caucus.

3. I know many of the funders and political consultants he's reaching out to, which tells me he's building a solid support network.

I'm under no illusion that Hickenlooper will likely be a front-runner, but his I see value in promoting Democcrats that have shown political strength in Purple States and especially in "flyover country" as opposed to the traditional coastal Blue States. And his electoral experience still puts him miles ahead of a businessman with no political engagement at all.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

and yet Hickenlooper's popular support among Dems will never surpass 5%. I'm confident in that. Care to make a friendly wager? By the end of the primary, if either of us remembers, the loser will change his signature line in accordance with the winner's whim. We'll keep it clean. Something to the effect of:

"I should never have bet with True Dough. He's much more politically prescient than I am."

It will make the primaries that much more interesting!

If Hickenlooper surpasses 5% in popular support, as measured by any legitimate poll, then you win.

If he doesn't, I win.
