"establishment Dem" -- is that code for rich liberal Dems with big bucks? Is that code for white liberal privilege? Or do we supply our own subjective definition of what he means? I am well aware that the Dem party has stumbled a few times. Most notably in my lifetime, LBJ's war in Vietnam. And too often, we have succumbed to the GOP's twisted agenda of "law n order."

I don't need to hear a Dem candidate slamming my party. What I need to hear are positive policy proposals for fixing what's broken and unjust in my country.

I'm gonna puke. How is a guy who's been a career politician for some 40 years - about the same amount of time as Joe Biden - not part of the "establishment"? He drops into the Democratic party when it's advantageous for him and then proceeds to crap all over it, basically shitting in his own nest, even if it's a temporary nest. He needs to take off his Che t-shirt and stop pretending he's like a member of the SDS or something and acknowledge that he's just as much an "establishment" guy as the rest of them. I supported him in 2016 but I'm so over him.

29. That parties evolve and change over time, the democratic party of today
Sun May 19, 2019, 11:18 AM
May 2019

is not a complete copy/paste of the party from 20, 30, 50 years ago - the issues of focus change, even if some of the core stances stay the same (and core stances drift too). And that in his view, the stances of people in key party leadership positions (establishment) are not in the right place on those core focuses and stances as compared to where he thinks the party should be based on what he thinks is important to voters. So the establishment is 'wrong' and some more evolving needs to occur.

It's always pitting one group against the other, you against them and it makes it harder to come together again after the primaries. The result of that toxic strategy could be seen in 2016 and with that knowledge it's interesting that one would willingly go down that road again.
"Establishment" seems to have become a buzzword thrown out for his followers to get mad about. This is exactly what Trump does.

That BS needs to tear down those made it possible for us to claim a Democratic House Victory in 2018.. in order to build himself up.

Is it any wonder he's down in the polls?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

herself. This is so important on the global stage and during times of crisis domestically. Firmness and resolve is more convincing when it seems unencumbered by emotionalized anger and personal grudge.
Obama’s ability to communicate with America, and our allies and foes alike, in a manner conveying
civility but strength is something I sorely miss.
I don’t think Bernie Sanders does himself or his causes any favors when he appears to disparage
the party “establishment.”
His “down with the establishment” attitude in general can be viewed as immature. The establishment never gets dismantled in American politics. It is changed from within and then with skillful negotiation, and by unifying diverse coalitions.

Is Bernie building or just tearing down?

a wannabe populist leader, of course the answer must be tearing down. Can’t have a revolution without breaking the establishment, and populism is all about breaking the establishment.

Interestingly, I read recently that populists, defined by resentment to “elites,” perversely choose their leaders from among the elites, only ones who are rejected by other elites, “outsider elites.” Both Sanders and Trump fit that to a T.

Immature thinking. Certainly can’t disagree with that word.
