Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumIn This Money Race, Bernie Sanders Wins
Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton won the fundraising competition, but rival Bernie Sanders snagged the award for running the more frugal operation, campaign finance reports filed this week show.
Sen. Sanders of Vermont has been waging a campaign with a fraction of Mrs. Clintons overhead.
The Clinton campaign payroll dwarfed that of Mr. Sanders, who is running second in the Democratic field. Mrs. Clinton spent nearly $3.7 million on campaign salaries; Mr. Sanders, $112,000.
Her campaign spent more than $900,000 on polling in the quarter that ended June 30; Mr. Sanders, $0.
And on it goes.

(9,126 posts)And that is why her message is constantly changing. They know they have to money coming in from the big corps, so they have the luxury of polling as many times as they want. I'm sure they polled a lot to add the right buzz phrases into her speech. They also sent it to Wall Street so they knew she was just joshin the plebs.

(9,126 posts)I nearly fell out of my chair. What best and brightest campaign advisor came up with that one??? She had the possibility to entirely shape the narrative of the primary. All the press wanted to do is talk about and talk to the frontrunner with the huge lead. And what did they do? Re-engineer her to sound like Elizabeth Warren and then hide from the press. So all the issues of the campaing are now ultra progressive and the candidates are trying to outdo each other on who is more left. One of these days, there will be a poll that says she is losing moderates and then there will be an abrupt tack to the center.
Now the campaign is playing fast and loose with the tweet about the small donors. Did they think it wouldn't come out? I swear, if this keeps going, this might be an even worse campaign than in 2008. Money isn't going to fix everything.

(18,791 posts)that a couple days ago on MSNBC, The Cycle, Krystal What's-Her-Name, did a piece on how the HRC campaign wants all the interns to work for free, while Bernie's campaign is paying $10.10 per hour.
So who is getting all those millions?
I also can't help but think of the contrast in campaign headquarters...HRC has 2 floors (I believe) in Brooklyn Heights in a structure that is known as the Morgan Stanley Building....Bernie has a PO Box.
Go figure.

(14,255 posts)The money spent on polling cracks me right the fuck up. Makes the polls, IMO, sorta not very compelling.
Glad I am a Bernie supporter and contributing what very little I can to Bernie, and not to Anthony Weiner's "services".
