Sen. Bernie Sanders draws enthusiastic crowd to Fort Mason in San Francisco

Carolyn Said and Joe Garofoli March 24, 2019

Excerpt:

Sanders took the stage minutes after Attorney General William Barr released a summary of Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

“I have something in my email box, I’ll read it right after this,” Sanders said. “I know it is a summary of the report. Well, I don’t want a summary of the report. I want the whole damn report because nobody, especially this president, is above the law.”

That remark drew cheers and applause, as did his other digs at President Trump, “the most dangerous, dishonest president in American history,” Sanders said.

Sanders’ 70-minute speech Sunday included humor, some of it self-deprecating.

He may not be a math genius, he said in conclusion. “But this I know: They are the 1 percent. We are 99 percent. If we stand together, we can create a country that will be the envy of the world.”

California is a very expensive state as far as media markets go. That and it's big. Hope next time Sanders makes a swing through the state he visits ripe for picking, Orange County and the Inland Valley areas. I know most Democrats avoid these areas as your path to victory will be via Los Angeles and the Bay Area, but his message will do well in some of those areas left behind financially. Might be good to go to Chico as well to speak to the fire victims. When Trump visited the area, he offered more criticism than hope to those poor families that lost everything. Would be good for Bernie to remind them he has their back as they rebuild their lives.

Many experts think and I agree at this point that Harris will clean up in California. She has to do very well to remain viable. Being a daughter of the state (first serious POTUS candidate in decades), at this point I think she will win the state. She is beloved by Californians rightly or wrongly. But if Bernie can keep close to her, it's a big win for him. I'm hoping Bernie comes in 2nd but only one or two points behind Harris. A Bernie win would probably kill Harris' campaign or seriously wound her.

I think Harris is betting to place in the top 3-4 in the early states and then win in California and pick up steam from that big win.
