Bernie Sanders

An elderly man, looked to be in his 80s, was seated at the next table with an equally senior woman. Looking at him in his John Deere cap and plaid shirt you might have him pegged as Trump supporter. You would have been wrong.
I'm paraphrasing, but he basically said he's always voted R, but not in the upcoming Calif. primary. He's reregistered as "declines to state" so he can vote for Bernie. He doesn't like Hillary, and can't understand why anyone does. He's also no fan of Trump. He said he and his friends are all voting Bernie, because he's the one they trust and the only candidate who understands the concerns of the ordinary person. He also pointedly remarked that Hillary is in the pocket of corrupt bankers and would, as President, be working for them. He said the only way he'd consider voting for her is if she put Bernie or Elizabeth Warren on the ticket.
He's only one voter, to be sure, but he's not the only Republican I know who's a Bernie fan. My Republican sister-in-law has also come over from the dark side to support Bernie.
She won't, however, vote Clinton. If it's Hillary v. Trump, she'll sit this one out.
There is just no enthusiasm for Hillary. The establishment should look at Bernie's continuing success as evidence that the voters aren't impressed with their annointed one. Instead they're sticking their fingers in their ears and refusing to acknowledge the obvious. There's a great candidate whose appeal crosses party lines and who could whip Trump's sorry ass. His name is Bernie Sanders.

(55,981 posts)They don't care that she has been tough on the Iraq people, those incarcerated in Prisons For Profits and those that need medical marijuana for their pain. She wasn't tough when we needed her the most, to tell Bush/Cheney to go to hell. Instead she helped them.

(36,392 posts)I don't see how she will get anything done, even if elected, with such high negatives. Of course she and Paul Ryan could, if they decide to work together, do a great deal of damage. If that happens, the fan club will cheer thunderously while all of the good work of the 20th century democrats is undone.
