“Hope” is the thing with feathers

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.

-Emily Dickinson

I thought the group would appreciate this poem!

I was fortunate to be at that rally yeaterday with my daughter. How could I not go with her when its the first time she has shown any interest in our political system/elections. It was truly a magical moment. I sent this link to my daughter a moment ago. She'll appreciate it.

The bird seemed to have cemented the inspiration Bernie has provided my young daughter. She was genuinely touched by the whole experience. I was amazed when she told me after the rally that Bernie's comments made her emotional -- especially, she said, his remarks about how shameful it is that in America we have thousands of people who don't have access to adequate or even any mental health care, many of whom are right now contemplating suicide or even homicide. A friend of hers, a returned veteran from Iraq/Afghanistan, killed himself almost two years ago.

Walking out of the rally she said, "I think the bird was a sign." I think she's right.

I'm not religious, but I do believe that things are connected and sometimes we are blessed with a sign from the Universe.
