Sorta watching it now. Posting and reading DU, but it's on the TV. Really good cast and a fantasmical storyline. OAITW r.2.0 Mar 24 #9

I am not opposed to nudity as an important aspect of the story or setting. That said, all the "buzz" about this movie leaves me suspecting it is all gratuitous and exploitative--just for that "buzz."

I'll gladly be corrected by those who have seen it... But, I don't think I am alone in not being tempted by the attention given it. Films that trade solely on nudity pop up every decade or so. Hardly a new phenomenon.

I thought it was a funny coming of age story and sexual awakening that was told from a woman's perspective. Sure there was a lot of both male and female nudity but it fit the context. And it felt, to me, that it showed a woman's sexuality without the judgment or shame that is inherent in this culture .

Plan on watching it again so I can check out all the AI backgrounds more closely.

It reminded me of a Peter Greenaway movie with the set design and vibrant colors. Agree the sex and nudity never felt exploitive.
I’m glad I watched it and think Emma Stone totally deserved the Oscar, but I’ll never watch it again, I don’t think.

Special effects are great and Emma Stone handles this role from beginning to end, brilliantly. Lotta frontal nudity, but she handles all of her scenes pretty damn well. I'm impressed.
