Does anyone else think Dustin Hoffman plays the same character in almost every movie

he’s in?? Just saw him in a Kramer vs Kramer, and I swear there he is Dustin Hoffman playing Dustin Hoffman with just a different name. Am I nuts?? Or do anyone of you think so too???

It was early in his career but you could see all of the characters in that performance. From The Graduate the Marathon Man etc. he had them all in his repertoire already

Oh, Tootsie was a horrible movie. Screw men who think it takes a man to explain women's issue. Dickhead.

If the *point* of the movie was to explain women's issue, then sure. They certainly could have had a better female role to perhaps explain things to him. I mean I love Teri garr, the script is the problem not her acting.

But I saw the movie more as silly fun, and an excuse to let Hoffman essentially play two roles, and if it helps men better envision how women get treated, perhaps some good was done along the way.

But generally I agree that allies should support, not replace, the voices of women and minorities.

"Ratso" was as far from any of his other characters as anyone could get. A brilliant performance from a brilliant actor.

Both Hoffman and Voight were nominated for Oscars for best actor, but cancelled each other out.
