Went to see the Bohemian Rhapsody movie today, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. There

was a lot to cover in the movie, while they didn't go in depth, I thought they did it well. The music side of it was really well done, especially the Live Aid set.

Question though...I had heard some people say in the lead-up to the release that the movie downplayed Freddie's sexuality. Did you think they handled that well?

They showed his relationship with Mary, and then heavily alluded to his growing interest in the same sex, developing into relationships. There were numerous male male kissing and hookup scenes....I'm not sure how much more they could have added without affecting the age rating. We brought our 12 years old to it too, and he had a few questions afterwards, but he was grand with it. The main thing was the music anyway but there was so much to cover.

Edit : The pace of the movie was such that the 135 minutes zipped by

I'm 61 and graduated from high school in 1975. I lost all my gay friends from high school, college and my first teaching job to AIDS. EVERY ... SINGLE ... ONE. So I wasn't just crying for Freddie.

And I NEVER cough up the bucks to see movies in IMAX. But this is a BIG SCREEN/GREAT SOUND movie if there ever was one. Furthermore, you need to enjoy it with an audience.

I thought Rami Malek was amazing.

The critics are all wrong. I only went to the movie because a friend wanted to go. I didn't know what to expect. I actually thought Freddie Mercury was the guy from Kiss whom I don't like at all. Anyway, once the movie started and moved along and the story developed, I fell in love with Mercury's inventiveness and creativity. His guts. The movie is the real story of "A Star is Born" not the one with Cooper and Gaga. Mercury was a force to be reckoned with. By the end of the movie, I was sobbing from having missed out on his life. I hugged my friend afterwards and thanked her for suggesting we see it. I've already started reading up on him and listening to all of his work.

This movie should be up for Best Picture, Best Male lead, Best Director, and more.

It was also fascinating how realistic the sets, costumes, and story line were.

A GAZILLION STARS FOR BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY!

The movie is phenomenal. The acting, the sets, everything. They dealt with his sexuality very honestly. As well as his ethnicity. His religion briefly touched upon, Zoroastrianism. I loved how they worked the phrase “Bismillah” in the movie. (I imagine suburban white kids all over America looking up the Islamic sacred word) I was transported by the movie, and that’s why we love movies. His relationship with Mary was fascinating. I understand he left her everything when died, telling her “if I didn’t come out, I would have married you and it would all be yours anyway”. (Not in the movie)
I give it a gazillion stars.

that I needed to see. I'll have to wait until after the awards to see Eternity's Gate and The Cold War. Thought the Live Aid scene was okay. I feel the encounter between Mercury and the dying man before he leaves the clinic was more inspiring. Freddie's magic managed to put a smile on his face. I turned to my friend at some point and mentioned the whole thing, including Malek's performance, could best be summed up by the A Star Is Born song "Shallow."

when all of the critics have been proven wrong, Rami has cleaned up the gold trinkets, and BoRhap has brought in one billion bucks.
