And the song is the reason I chose the name...it explains my journey into my political identity.
'On the first part of the journey
I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound
I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...
After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead
You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...
After nine days I let the horse run free
'Cause the desert had turned to sea
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
there was sand and hills and rings
The ocean is a desert with it's life underground
And a perfect disguise above
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground
But the humans will give no love
You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

Although I am sure that many here have their own special names for me (snicker).
I am a hardcore liberal progressive and do not bend well to meet in the middle.
My function remains to be the catalyst to keep our party left of center--I perceive it very right of center now and always a clear and present danger of going further right.
I am not going to bend on the social issues that I perceive as important--such as civil rights...namely for women and members of the GLBT community, healthcare for all, and my fight to preserve choice.
I have lived long enough to see the failure of capitalism...I hope I live long enough to see the brainwashed realize the failure of it and our country coming together to work for the good of the people instead of the good of the corporations and the MIC.

(18,998 posts)And I share your values....and your goals...though I don't think I will live long enough to see them accomplished...but would love to be surprised.
And I like that song.

(12,799 posts)And sincere thanks to you for continuing to urge us forward. Most days for me it just feels like the best we can do is to lose no more ground, so it is well that you stand yours.
