I accidentally alerted on a post in a thread rather than the OP as I intended. (Original Post) Ocelot II Nov 2023 OP
It probably won't receive a "hide" from the jury if it is obviously not problematic. hlthe2b Nov 2023 #1

If someone got a hide I might go to Admin and report it. I've had to do it for a couple of OOPs I authored... marble falls Nov 2023 #2

I don't think there is anything you can really do, except hope for the former. I suppose you could contact the admins, but I don't think they would intercede--or you could du mail the poster of the wrongly alerted post and ask that they appeal and cite your mistake should they receive a hide...

I'm sure many of us have inadvertently done this...

but I’m in alert jail for 24 hours because they were unanimously acquitted, as they should have been. I just don’t want it on my Permanent Record.

... they were helpful and non-judgemental!

Heck, they even reversed two hides I didn't deserve.

My suggestion would be to keep an eye on the post you accidentally alerted and if it's hidden, contact Discussion Forum Administration on the page below and let them know it was in error. If it's not, no harm done, in my opinion.
