How are post counts figured?

I was posting on a thread and a new poster was, too. The person had 75 posts. Then he/she posted again and had the same 75. Then more posts but it still showed 75.

I am guessing the post counts are updated for everyone maybe once or twice a day?

go to your profile after you post under you will see your post count.
The number of posts seem to climb only when refreshed like that
otherwise it may update as you guessed, and this is my best guess.

Every time you post you should see the number go up.

Bear in mind that the post count doesn't log the number of an individual post -- it just always displays your total post count.

So it's not like the count on your first post says "1", the count on your second post says "2", and the count on your third post says "3" -- after you've made your third post, the count on all your posts will say "3".

Before I wrote this post, the number on all my posts said "20,050" -- after I post this, all my posts will say "20,051".
