that I picked up at Home Depot several years ago. Use it in our basement TV room. It seems to do a good job.

animal fur, dust and help with smoke, not all of it but a good one helps.
We can tell this when we clean the filter....you can see it.

Left one behind in Seattle and had to buy another one when we got here. Budget for the filter replacements as they need to be changed periodically but this is the one I recommend.

before buying. I personally would not get one that has the ozone feature, which many do have. Some you can turn that part off though. Charcoal filters are the best.
Good luck! I am on the left coast too and expect it to be at least the same as last year and probably worse.

Did some research and seems to be the best though pricier than others. We got the small version for its quality reviews and it’s also so much quieter than the other 2 we got, and also pretty cool looking for an air purifier.

All hepa. Two Honeywell. They're nice but it's really difficult to find replacement filters. I live in the Netherlands but I had trouble finding replacement filters for the older ones I had in Texas. The newer ones are even more difficult. Also, I thought Honeywell was a republican donor, so I tried levoit. I have three legit now.
They're great and filters are easy to find, at least in the NL.

I use hepa filters for allergies, not smoke, so I can't judge how effective they are with smoke. Do check on the availability of filters though, if you buy the kind that need replacements.
