Bogus I Phone Pop Up ad Appearing You May Be Hacked

Last edited Sun Aug 11, 2019, 08:06 AM - Edit history (1)

A bogus pop-up ad directed at I-phone users and purporting to be from Amazon and offering free $1000 gift cards has popped up on my screen while browsing through DU. Some little cherub may have hacked their way past your safeguards. Spoiling said person’s phishing would make a fine start to this Sunday morning as well as being a good deed.

I apologize for posting this here, but I couldn’t think of another way to contact DU’s administrators.

Sincerely,

VG

Happens on my iPad a lot...never had it happen here usually at GoComics or CNN...I just close that tab open another and get on with it.

Not a DU site problem. Ad blockers work.

I do use an ad blocker, but this began late yesterday and still today I cannot access DU with the iPhone.

FU is certainly my sentiment to whoever imposed this crap on us.

But for the last couple of days my iPad wants to update the OS. Haven't done it yet. Are the update and the increased ads a coincidence?

I see them on other sites as well, and they're not phone brand specific (I use android).

Theyr'e annoying as heck. And people wonder why adblock is so popular. Ads have been a vector for malicious software, viruses, and some have been highly disruptive to content on sites.
