Instead of simply locking a thread that the mods decide should ...

be posted elsewhere (say ... Democratic Primaries), why can they not simply move the thread to whichever forum they believe to be appropriate?

Also, if the mere mention of any Democratic politician is a no-no in GD, perhaps that could be made clear.

and while one of the earliest versions of DU (2, I think) still did and they COULD move threads, that is not possible anymore. All they can do is apply the rules for GD and lock those that do not apply.

The mere mention of ANY Dem Politicians isn't an issue for GD. unless they are involved in the 2020 Democratic Primaries--in terms of running themselves or are discussing those who are. So, I can discuss an endorsement for a Colorado Senatorial candidate (not running for President) in GD, but not an endorsement for, say, Senator Michael Bennet, who IS.

BTW, here are the posted rules for Democratic Primary forum:

I took a fairly lengthy hiatus during some of the more egregious internecine BS that went on during the last Presidential election, and have not payed as close attention as I should.
If I plan on posting regularly again, I need to do better.

Here on DU.3, hosts can lock threads if they violate the SoP and redirect to the appropriate forum, that's it. And MIRT can remove Spam, but that's about it.
