I Need Advice on a New Cell Phone

I have a Samsung and my carrier is T-Mobile. I hate them both more and more with each passing day.

The phone battery lasts 6 hours if I'm lucky. That's with no apps or anything else running.

The last straw: several people have tried to call me in the past 2 days and not a single one shows up on the call log. I checked voicemail and there were NINE messages without a single call in the log. A good friend had left 3 of them. Her husband died recently died and she has not been taking it well. I felt awful that I did not know she had been trying to reach me.

I need a new cell phone and a new carrier. All I need is to be able to make and get calls, text messaging, though a camera would be nice (but not absolutely necessary).

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Works very well for me and it's affordable considering the services I need.

Good luck!

I had three awful Samsung phones in a row. You couldn’t pay me to ever go near another one. Although they’re more expensive, I’ve had great luck with iPhones. Good luck!

Verizon seems to have coverage in areas where other carriers don't. I live in a pretty rural area so that's a big deal for me. I've never had any trouble with either of the iPhone's I've had.

I forgot to mention that economy was also a major concern (so, sorry, no iPhone). The Consumer Cellular that a couple people recommended sound like something to look into.

Not that this thread is done! I'm still open to more suggestions.

Thanks!

Switched over from AT&T a couple of years ago. The Customer Service is great and the pricing is even better. Uses the same network as AT&T for coverage. $25/mo., no contract necessary.

When I switched over, I upgraded from my flip phone to an iPhone that would sync with my car. Consumer Cellular offers an iPhone5 for $150. The "5" has all the technology I need and is sufficient. They also have newer versions, but at higher prices.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Now, I do wireless charge every night and I take a LOT of pictures and play a few games every day.. I also get about 2 hours of charge time in my car every work day as I live about an hour from work. I use Android auto app so I plug directly into the car and it charges the phone while letting me make and answer calls and it reads me texts and lets me answer them all hands-free..(hands free google maps too which I use a lot as well)

I went with T-Mobile because they were cheaper than Verizon but there is no question Verizon has the best coverage overall. I've had like 4 Samsung phones in a row and loved every one of them. My current one is an S9+ and takes grrat pictures.

But OP's call log issue is worrisome. I'm not sure if that would be a carrier issue or a phone issue. I'm guessing carrier as I have noticed delayed notifications every now and then too. We live in a terrible cell reception area but T-Mobile sent me a cell-signal booster that plugs into my high-speed internet and sends a great cell signal to cover my house and yard. When the internet goes down, though, my cell reception drops to nothing.

The battery life is a phone issue but after a while, if it's an older phone, all batteries get worse as time goes on. Especially smart phone batteries.
