(5,402 posts)It's a little dated, but I guess, if there's no new good news for Clinton, someone has to recycle the old good news.

(486 posts)Hillary's lead in the national polls is still significant, and I do think polling for Biden confuses the issue somewhat, but many of the pollsters are also reporting out the numbers excluding him.
In this case, the last WaPo/ABC poll (mid July) also included Biden, and his numbers have changed only a little since (12 then, 14 now).
Regardless though, the trend is clear:
HRC down 21, Sanders up 10 (with Biden).
HRC down 7, Sanders up 14 (without Biden).
Therefore, in these past 2 months the gap closed by 31 points if Biden is in, and it closed by 21 points if Biden is out.
Either way, the gap definitely is closing, so...
Headlines reading: "Hillary Slipping" certainly should not be considered to be lies and smears. Composite polling definitely confirms this. In Jan 2015 Clinton's lead over Sanders was 58%; today it is 18%, and the trajectories for both candidates continue to steepen.

(5,213 posts)"While Clinton maintains the lead, her support has dropped 21 points among Democrats since July. She has lost ground with most demographic groups, but the sharpest drop has come among women and particularly white women. In July, 64 percent of white women said they supported Clinton; today, it is 31 percent, the same level of backing as Sanders, whose support has doubled among this group.
A majority of Americans (55 percent) say they disapprove of the way Clinton has handled questions about her use of a private e-mail account while serving as secretary of state. An almost identical percentage (54 percent) say that she has tried to cover up facts. Asked whether Clinton stayed within government guidelines or broke the rules by using a private server, 51 percent say she broke the rules, while 32 percent say she did not, with the remainder offering no opinion."
