Krugman, as always, right on the money.

The point is that talking about Mr. Romneys personal history isnt a diversion from substantive policy discussion. On the contrary, in a political and media environment strongly biased against substance, talking about Bain and offshore accounts is the only way to bring the real policy issues into focus. And we should applaud, not condemn, the Obama campaign for standing up to the tut-tutters.

(1,999 posts)Exactly. The only way to get people to pay attention is point out Romney's lies and how he's hurt regular people in the past. THEN people will listen to the actual substance debate.

(193 posts)the comments make sense, too. Of course, some of the mindless Romney supporters commented, too, but heck some are worth reading for the laughs.

(602 posts)He nails it every time. If only we could do multiple clones of Krugman's brain and do some swaps-on-the-sly with certain Republican politicians, I think all of our problems might suddenly be solved.

You go into an election with the media and voters that you have, not the media and voters that you wish you had.

"So how can the Obama campaign cut through this political and media fog? By talking about Mr. Romneys personal history, and the way that history resonates with the realities of his pro-rich, anti-middle-class policy proposals."
