Dick Durbin brings the scalded cat analogy:
"Because there is evidence that under Bain Capital, they were exporting American jobs to low wage companies and he doesn't want to be associated with it," Durbin said, answering his own question.
Give 'em hell, Dickie
Cuz' it looks like the truth feels like hell to the Mittster.
This whole thing is beginning to remind me of the Seinfeld episode about everyone's rigorous heterosexuality, "not that there's anything wrong with that." Romney is denying something he really should feel no need to deny. Right?

(36,286 posts)the answer is that the Obama campaign isn't driving this, Romney is! The Obama campaign put us several ads featuring people put out of work by Bain Capital. If Romney had kept his mouth shut, Obama supporters would have applauded the ads and that would have been the end of it. But Romney kept saying that Obama was lying about his record at Bain. The media people looked into it to confirm their pre-written story of the Obama campaign putting out false attack ads. Except - the story turned out that there is a lot of truth in the Obama ads. The more fuss Romney makes, the more people are looking deeper into the details of his background, and the more questions are coming up.
BTW - oner of the ads shows Bain Capital laying off employees to break the union and cut wages and benefits.

(14,881 posts)that's exactly what Romney did against Shannon O'Brien when he ran against her for gov of Mass.
Kennedy started those ads back when he demolished Romney in a senate campaign.
Then O'Brien tried to repeat Kennedy's strategy, but this time Romney had a comeback prepared. He used his money to carpet bomb her with ads accusing her of lying and claiming he wasn't involved with Bain after 1999.
Obama's team knew he would now try to repeat *his* success, but they had the goods on him.
They were laying a trap for him right from the get-go with the outsourcing ads, and he walked right into it.
Obama is driving this. Romney is totally on the mat, reactive and defensive. He's toast, because he has already losing the support of the much of the rest of the GOP.
Those who continue to try to defend him are helping Obama by giving Romney false hope and keeping the story front and center. The longer it drags on, the more voices -- from both sides, no less -- say show us the tax returns.
And he's toast because he either lied to the SEC or he lied to the FEC. Can't have it both ways. Either one is indefensible.
Oh, and if Romney had no involvement with Bain from 1999 on, and wasn't responsible for outsourcing, then he lied to the SEC. Which happens to be a felony.
