LANSING, MI Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is taking on a new role that could see her act as a campaign surrogate for Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.
NEW GIG: Granholm, who was co-chairing a major super PAC supporting Clinton, has resigned and joined another pro-Hillary Group that can coordinate with her campaign. It's called Correct the Record............
The new role positions Granholm for "a potentially larger role with the Democratic Party down the road," according to the New York Times, and means she can act as a surrogate to "vouch for Mrs. Clinton in an increasingly contentious campaign.".................

And and Editorial she recently wrote:
New carbon rules can propel innovation, jobs

With President Barack Obamas Clean Power Plan, the U.S. has taken its biggest step yet to combat climate change. But equally important is how this plan provides an unprecedented opportunity to strengthen the American economy and usher our energy system into the 21st Century.
Some climate-change deniers in Congress are trying to paint these environmental safeguards as nothing but regulatory red tape. But they have missed a key piece of the puzzle: The Clean Power Plan gives states the flexibility they need to reduce carbon pollution while investing in renewable energy. If states choose well, those investments could lay the foundation for robust economic growth across decades.
Having served as Michigans governor during the worst economic downturn in generations, I know that supporting clean energy can create stable, well-paying jobs for Americans.
No state was hit harder than Michigan during the Great Recession. Suppliers to the auto industry went bankrupt, and manufacturing jobs fell away and put entire communities out of work. The auto industry was melting down. We needed new industries and sectors to put Michiganders back to work. Our only choice was to look forward.......................
......................................
And for your viewing enjoyment
I really enjoyed her speech. She was on FIRE--really digging into Mitt R.--and Pres. Obama saving the auto industry!

Things have to change !!!!!

(110,159 posts)why people forget 2008, i dont get. how easy it is to ignore all that was accomplished. yet, here we are today, creating the same halo for another, only to be able to dump on all accomplished cause the campaign promises were unattainable. ignoring progression.

(337 posts)HRC's campaign needs to show more humility on this email thing, and I think Granholm did a good job beginning that pivot yesterday. Suck it up, accept a degree of responsibility, and move on to attacking the GOP.

(39,215 posts)our candidates to speak for themselves. We want to know what Hillary has to say. This is not 2008. We want to talk issues with the candidates and we want them in detail not a general statement that could mean anything.
This is probably the most important election we have had in decades and we need information to make up our minds. The future of our country is at stake. And we already know that no one in the R party will do. Now we need to make the best choice in the primary.

(19,537 posts)And probably also pays just as well to the opponents of those who might consider endorsing Bernie too...
Endorsements in my book are meaningless in this election where the 99% wants a revolutionary change, and those in Washington are afraid to push the PTB or be out of the picture at this point, whether their political ambitions are noble or selfish. Actually having no endorsements is a testament of evidence in my book (and I think in many others' books too) that there is a problem worthy of needing big changes that Bernie is proposing. The nature of this election isn't something we've seen I think since the 1930's when FDR was elected.
If Bernie gets nominated, I predict that is the time when endorsements will roll in for him, as it would be harder for contributors to lobby against those endorsements than it would be prior to the nomination being decided.

(110,159 posts)advantages and disadvantages. sanders made his choice being independent. it worked for him. not he is going it alone. clinton was a party of the party. sanders is just walking in and still holding himself separate.

(19,537 posts)It is showing that he's willing to stand his ground and not knuckle in to pressure to the PTB to do things the way they want him to. Now granted, him staying independent probably also hurts him more in getting endorsements too, as those Democrats who endorse him as an independent would have a lot to lose perhaps later if he weren't to win the nomination, where if he was a Democrat, there'd perhaps be less pressure on them then.
But I think that he's staying independent, is likely helping Democrats register more new members in a lot of states that want to vote for him in closed primaries, as it helps them identify more with him too.

(110,159 posts)you are right.
now.... where is he going to find those that will help him carry his message. which was the discussion.

(19,537 posts)Look at the percentage of voters that voted for minimum wage in four red states in 2014, where so many corporate Democrats did poorly. Also look at how many people support his positions on issues like the TPP/TPA, student loan debt. raising taxes on the wealthy, etc. which so many corporate controlled Democrats don't have the courage to stand against their controllers, which so many average voters, regardless of party absolutely HATE the prospects of being passed! They've learned the hard way with NAFTA, and they don't want crap like that any more.
Many from all parties will see him as a breath of fresh air on issues like this, not just some "small segment" that the corporate controlled media and parties try to make it sound like.

(67,782 posts)First, Clinton has made dozens of appearances since she declared her candidacy during which she HAS detailed her positions
Second, Sanders has yet to talk about any details for all the pie-in-the-sky ideas he has, including a perfect opportunity at today's DNC meeting.
Finally, it appears you already have made up your mind based on your avatar.

(19,537 posts)WHAT are Hillary's "detailed positions" on those big issues that most Americans care about, that the 1% doesn't want talked about!
Bernie is VERY CLEAR on those issues. Not too pie in the sky either. It's called defending Americans against the global fascism that these treaties will put in place! If it were so great for us, it wouldn't be so secret, and Hillary Clinton would tell us what she talked about with the countries she negotiated it with when she was SOS!
So, is she also going explain how limiting students to only have options for Community College is so much better than Bernie's proposal to also give student options for free college at public universities as well, funded by transaction taxes funded primarily by transaction taxes on Wall Street, that is focused on the speculators there, who really owe a lot back to us who they've been stealing from for the last decade without going to jail at all for many crimes they've paid to be set free from prosecution for.
