2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHoo boy, I need a response to this comment in a local paper in MA
As a senior, I would have thought that you would appreciate fiscal responsibility, not over spending. Did you not learn to be frugal from your parents or grandparents?
The Democrats are not your friend, especially if you are a senior. Do you realize that Obamacare will cut almost $500 BILLION from Medicare??? AND raise taxes.
Americas seniors already understand that cutting Medicares reimbursement rates by $450 billion over a decade isnt going to be good for their health care. http://www.nationalreview.com/...
By trying to micromanage our economy, the Democrats are ensuring that taxing, spending, regulating, and borrowing will continue to rise while new business creation, job growth and our overall economy dies. And attacking those in Congress who attempt to bring issues to the forefront, those that attempt to find a plan to save Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, as well as the American economy, is insulting to voters intelligence.
When solutions are proposed to save these entitlements, Democrats and the lapdog media are relentless at using scare tactics to contain the discussion and convince voters to re-elect them.

(111,405 posts)You might want to warn the paper about printing Astroturf letters to the editor, too.
The obvious answer is the truth: that $500Bn is supposed to be the savings from cracking down on Medicare fraud committed by such great Republicans as pRick Scott and his wife. However, don't expect to reach the nitwit who downloaded and printed out this form letter and signed it. Just expect to reach anyone who read this in honest ignorance and wondered if it were true.

Obamacare is one of the best programs in a long while.
Invest in the most valuable resource the USA has --- its people
Invest in Education and Health Care .... and the people will give the USA the biggest return.

(1,096 posts)Generally I believe in setting the record straight when people spout inaccurate data regarding a political subject.
However in some cases that seems to be a waste of valuable time.
Maybe you could find a lnk to the study which shows that viewers of Fox News are less informed than people who watch no news at all.

(1,663 posts)You are not trying to convince the writer . . . you are trying to rebut the lies for the readers of the newspaper that printed it. When you write your letter, remember to reference this one and say you could not let all that misinformation stand unchallenged in a reputable newspaper.
