Obama calls late restaurant owner's family
President Obama Friday called the family of a restaurant owner who died mere hours after his visit, the White House announced.
"The president expressed his sorrow and his condolences about this very sad event," White House press secretary Jay Carney said. "He was honored to meet her and passed on his feelings that the whole family is in his thoughts and prayers."

"We're extremely saddened by Ann's sudden passing," the Obama campaign said in a statement. "Ann led an exceptional life by all that knew her."

(69 posts)Lets face it. The only reason people hate him is because they are
so unhappy with their own lives. They see Obama as the face of youth
and change and realize their time has come to step aside. This is what
they fear and hate most.

(22,904 posts)He's the kind of person you would want as a friend because you know that he would ALWAYS be there for you. Obama is who I want to continue governing our country. No one else comes even close, IMO.
That was classy.

(32,723 posts)it often closed right afterwards. It happened so many times workers got worried when they heard he was coming. Bush was such a fraud that he had "Made in the USA" stencilled on cardboard boxes at an importer. His "working class hero" bit was a joke.
When Obama visits a place people KNOW he's on their side all the way and doesn't act like someone who has spent his whole live having other people do things we take for granted, like laundry, shopping for food, going to a small restaurant.... He comes off as the kind of guy who would know how to use jumper cables.

Now I'm thinking of the time I hooked jumper cables up wrong in the dark and fried my ignition system . . .

Any time now I expect him to give a speech about America's inventiveness as he describes spinning brushes and hot wax.

(153,261 posts)It was the compassionate thing for the President to do. And, the campaign simply gave details to the press that wanted to know. No grandstanding, no political haymaking. All in all, well done.
(Now if you take time to read some of the Politico comments, you understand the level of vitriol towards the President that simply has taken over the lives of some people. )
