(12,655 posts)i knew toaster pastries would try and trip him up. he almost seemed irritated that bernie would not take the bait. i almost felt like he cut the interview short because it was not going the way he wanted.

(12,655 posts)that is why i said people who want to think they are getting neutral news will go to cnn. they want to pretend they are getting real news but of course they are not actually. carol costello for one is unwatchable. i need the barf bucket nearby if i even hear her voice.

(9,089 posts)And when they cancel Ed after giving him the least viewed hour on TV it shows what their true motivations really are.
It's not like we didn't see this coming.

(13,905 posts)When we voters no longer hold any power they will let us go back to screaming at each other about income inequality, look for Ed to return in 2017. It's almost predictable the way they manage the news. They allow us to vent when it has little impact on the process.

(13,905 posts)What I'm talking about is traction. That's what the right wing echo chamber of FOX and right wing radio do. They constantly remind people what has been said by one of their candidates. The corporate media will only allow so much progressive talk then they shut it down or switch the emphasis to a more conservative, centrist candidate. Why do you think the US has lurched so far to the right politically? Obama has called himself an 80's moderate Republican. Sanders is really an FDR Democrat. When did FDR become too liberal to elect?
JDPriestly
(57,936 posts)rarely if ever.
MSNBC is replacing Ed Schultz with Chuck Todd and many of us believe that this is a political use of money and the oligarchy's power to control the media so as to silence Bernie Sanders.
Your gal, Hillary, has nothing to fear.
She gets good coverage on TV although interviews are not her strength so they are few and far between. Doesn't think all that fast on her feet and is not that good with interviews. She has sold herself to the oligarchs already. Her foundation's amazing fundraising ease and speed prove that. They want her to win the primary because she toes their line in lots of little ways that you and I can't even imagine.
The last person the very rich, rich, rich, the oligarchs want in the White House is Bernie, a guy who owes them nothing, thinks independently and logically, knows a little history and fights for the people with fire in his belly.
Your Hillary has and is none of the above.
She owes everything to the rich people she deludes herself into thinking are all her nice friends who so generously have given her and her foundation so much money to do many good things, doesn't think independently or logically as seen from her vote on the Iraq War Resolution, has her own version of history and constantly evolves it and is friendly but doesn't really have fire in her belly.
Chuck Todd will treat Hillary with the contempt with which he treats all Democrats but he won't even go near Bernie.
And that is why Comcast, that tool of the most despicable, is replacing Ed Schultz with Chuck Todd.
It is a direct insult to their progressive, liberal viwers and yet one more proof that the American people are about to be fooled into voting for someone who will continue the status quo and change nothing at all -- that is, will change nothing for the better, nothing that really, really matters, nothing fundamental.

(67,782 posts)....Hillary isn't "my gal", that's a might sexist term to use in reference to her. I hope you edit it.
JDPriestly
(57,936 posts)Benie and O'Malley are guys. Hillary is a gal.
It isn't demeaning. It is old-fashioned language.
Would you prefer it if I said Hillary was your guy?
George II
(67,782 posts)I wouldn't consider referring to Bernie Sanders as "your old man" or "your Jew".
JDPriestly
(57,936 posts)Have you heard of the musical, "Guys and Gals."
Gal is not a pejorative term. It isn't used much, but do we have to bleach our language of all colorful words?
I'm a gal myself. At 72, I do think in terms of these old words on occasion. Maybe a generational sensitivity?

(67,782 posts)Times change. I guess I'm still stuck in the "ERA" days when "girl" and "gal" in reference to women was frowned upon.

To properly assimilate the audience, and convert them into buying their B.S., this will be a slow process.
One where most MSNBC viewers won't notice, where GOPers will slowly find appeal.
MSNBC can't change overnight.

(57,936 posts)universe and because we voters insisted on net neutrality.
Their programming should be shunned by all.
Let them fight with FOX for the ignorant audience that Comcast wants. This is war by non-violent means, guys.
Comcast should be boycotted.
Chuck Todd -- he is the reject of the year.
Remember -- nonviolent. But putting Chuck Todd on MSNBC is in terms of cable, an act of cable war against progressive, liberal viewers.
CHUCK TODD ON MSNBC IS HOW THE OLIGARCHS SAY: WE OWN YOU AND WE ARE NEVER GOING TO LET YOU FORGET THAT.

(9,089 posts)just people being over sensitive. He's frank and direct, and that is a major Plus.

(62,325 posts)job it is to try to discredit anyone who is a threat to the Status Quo. In fact everyone I know who has listened to his straight talk on the issues, wants to know 'who is this guy, he's a breath of fresh air' or words to that effect.
I am smiling to be honest, at the sheer desperation we are witnessing as he climbs in the polls since he was supposed to be gone by now.
I love watching him forcing the media shills to stay on the issues no matter how hard they try to avoid them.
Snotcicles
(9,089 posts)Every time he get face time on TV he gains in the polls. That is why they tried to avoid him as long they could.
They know he's message and his motivations are accurate and on point.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)for these talking points hadn't caught up to today's world where 7 out of 10 among younger voters WANT a Democratic Socialist form of Government. They KNOW about European style governments that put people first, and they how their futures have been destroyed by the predatory capitalist form of government we live under.
Shows how out of touch they are.
And now they are flogging another talking point while meanwhile Bernie continues to resonate with voters across the political spectrum once they hear him and learn about his record.
And we should not feed their talking points as that is the ONLY way they gain any traction.
Snotcicles
(9,089 posts)misinform as easily as inform. Lets give a shout-out to Bill Clinton for signing that Telecommunication Act of 1996.

(62,325 posts)those kinds of mistakes and then apologize for them when it is too late.
Hillary, eg, has a terrible record on so many major issues when she COULD have made wise decisions but instead, chose to vote for, eg, Bush's wars, supported the awful Welfare 'Reform' Bill and still has not said where she stands on the in this campaign. Supported the TPP and still has not said where she stand on that either.
I want a leader who is clear on the issues and doesn't need to evolve as often as Hillary has.

(57,936 posts)one was the biggest reward for the bribes, uh-oh, campaign donations of the super-rich to the Clintons.
I couldn't guess because of course as just one of millions of voters, I have no access to the conversations, winks, understandings or nods of the super-rich and the super-powerful.
And of course as George H.W. Bush the First used to say --"No quid pro quo" therefore no crime (unless you are Don Siegelman, enemy number one of the Republicans in Alabama). No siree, (grin with teeth showing), no quid pro quo.

The "get off my lawn" gruff attitude is considered admirable when it comes from a conservative, but castigated when it comes from a liberal.

(17,320 posts)Todd was hell bent on making Sanders look bad. It didn't work. But, it was a hodge podge of questions that didn't do much for Sanders either. On balance, I'm glad that Sanders appeared even under those circumstances.

(57,936 posts)most positive way possible.
At least the press has given up on asking Bernie about Hillary!
Hillary is beginning to fade into that famous rear-view mirror.
Bernie answers every mealy-mouthed question with a strong and positive affirmation of the working people of America, with a condemnation of the greedy top bit of the top 1%.
Chuck Todd had no idea what Bernie is about. He may know now.
Chuck Todd tried to touch on every issue on which he thought Bernie would falter, would try to compromise to "get more votes." No way. Bernie knows where he stands on every issue and why and there is no way that Bernie needs to or would ever compromise the strong moral foundation on which his political policies are based. No way.
Chuck Todd was out of his league and I think he figured that out just maybe as he closed the interview. Todd was totally outclassed. No amount of pompous cool could beat down Bernie's energy and sincerity. There is no tripping up a man of principle. There is therefore no tripping up of Bernie because Bernie is a man of principle.
Bernie's response to the Black Lives Matter question, a question that was aimed to embarrass Bernie was just wonderful. Bernie has been dedicated to progressive politics all his life. Bernie loves the people. And he lets his colors fly. Wow! I've never seen an interview like that. Not in my entire life.
Bernie really, really shredded Chuck Todd. It was amazing.
Chudk Todd compared Bernie to Trump. Whoohoo! Did Bernie deal with that one in short order.
Chuck Todd got his due. What an idiot. And MSNBC wants to replace Ed Schultz, a truly great man with Chuck Todd?
Comcast at its worst. Comcast at its stupidest. Comcast, what are you thinking?
