2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum#RedefineProgressive
We've heard a lot about progressives lately. Some folks are saying no to a version of progressivism that excludes black voices and works to discredit Black Lives Matter. See this interesting exchange on Twitter.

(53,093 posts)I had an account I never used. I still don't quite get how to do it though.

(34,648 posts)I think I might get into it. Lots of cool feminists and what I call the inclusive left. It might be time we started using it so we can remember that not everybody is as ... How can I say this? Focused on themselves as 'we' (not us though)are here.

(16,685 posts)To exclude black voices or discredit Black Lives Matter shouldn't call themselves a progressive.

(53,093 posts)but sadly they do, and they use the label to proclaim themselves better than others.

(34,648 posts)Is she back to being racist again? Saying she is in fear for her safety like back in March? I missed it. But I remember the dust up earlier this year and I think she acted badly.

(34,648 posts)Just like her Patricia Arquette meltdown. Poor thang. She is a sad woman. Big fail. Resigned from progressivism because of - drumroll please- reverse racism. My god. Sounds like some here on DU.

(53,093 posts)of how marginalized people perceive what white people often see as minor acts. Same can be said about sexism that women experience, and how people claim we're making a big deal out of nothing. Really great explanation, and in 140 character pieces. The guy is sharp.

(25,034 posts)What is the purpose of such a line of thinking? What is the payoff exactly of discounting track record?
Those who refuse to know history are doomed to repeat it seems the more practically operative axiom to me.

Although I know damn well that I'm wasting my time even responding to this, I'm just going to leave this here.

(53,093 posts)at Netroots Nation. You don't have to go to Twitter to see evidence. The same thing took place here. They were called Koch brothers conspirators, corporate plants trying to make Bernie look bad, because naturally it was all about Bernie and not BLM to some folks.

(3,675 posts)there comes a time when we white progressives need to stop taking shit personally/being offended and just shut the fuck up and listen. I support Bernie at this moment but i am not gonna take personally the anti bernie supporter sentiment from BLM and allys ESPECIALLY if it is earned.

(73 posts)Until they memorize the appropriate talking points and are willing to scream them over a crowd of booing people, there is no way to know where the candidates stand.
If God, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, wanted us to be able to discern reality by investigating past actions (voting records, etc) and current actions (taking bribes or not taking bribes for example), he would have given us reason and logic instead of the gullibility to believe he existed in the first place.
Remember, the Lord God has a plan!
Historically, that plan has been in favor of whatever group of sociopaths is in power, which means that it's the liberals who understand that true liberalism is the liberalism of Ronald Reagan, and those liberals have chosen Hillary Rodham Clinton!
But it is God Himself, through his worldly agents, the chosen 1%, who have anointed our savior Hillary Clinton.
Heresy shall not be tolerated.
Progressives who don't see the light must be shown the light, progressives who question the light shall have their tongues snatched out for if they cannot say the shibboleth they speak with a forked tongue that drips with poison.
And if "so called" progressives claim that Reagan the Father, Clinton the savior, and Greenspan the holy spirit are not progressives then we must change the meaning of the word itself! Because all that is good is of them, and their glory is all that there is.
